Top 50 pc games (not really)
« on: March 09, 2009, 11:46:26 am »

Seeing as there's a console thread which I don't want much to do with, I thought I'd make this instead. First 9 people to list 5 unique games complete the List.

Doom
Dune 2
UFO-Enemy Unknown
Sensible Soccer
Civilization (1)

I got the dullest choice of naming obvious ones. (apart from ss, a personal fav)

Not including DF,  as it's not an "other game".

Here it is , the
early bird list

Huh, this makes no sense, perhaps it should work like this: Everyone lists 5 of their favourite games, and you update your first post with the results on a weekly basis, or something like that.
Anyways....the 5 best games...hm...hard question, but let's see:

- Master of Magic
- Dwarf Fortress [what a surprise!  ;D]
- Call of Duty 1.
- Temple of Elemental Evil [with the community mod of course]
- Age of Wonders 2. - Shadow Magic

I still think wolfenstein 3d is more important than doom  ;) It was there first, and it started the whole hype.

Anyway, Sim City is pretty important.
So was Lemmings.
I think Stunt Island is pretty cool and unique, it definetly deserves a spot, even if it probably didnt sell that many copies.
STUNTS! (or 4-d race driving or whatever, same game)
oh and of course "alone in the dark".

there is a lot more, like early lucas arts adventures and whatnot. but i sincerely think dumbing down those lists to any platform makes those useless lists even more useless. since there are no clear borders, it was always more a question of "generation" if you will, more than platform.

I say, toss em all together in one big pot.

Arcade, Home Computers, Consoles. It doesnt really matter, a CPU is a CPU. Blinkin pixels are blinkin pixels.

Yeah I know it's a sloppy way, but i couldn't really be bothered tallying. If someone can be bothered it's probably best to make a new thread, as this one's already biased in that I said not to list the same game twice.

I must be from your generation puck, I could've listed those games as well. Yeah someone will probably make a better thread than this.

Well I haven't been around that long perhaps, but still old for this forum. I say doom 'cause although wolf3d started it, doom2 finished it IMO, I'd still play doom2 level1 deathmatch over any of this halo battlefield quake crap.

But WHY doom over wolfenstein? If you say "true" 3d I have to say "Descent"  ;D

Age of Empires 2
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne

I personally play more RPG's and RTS's than anything else.

So what about the people who failed to name unique titles?  Is reading comprehension a prerequisite for participation?

Can we maybe add a hall of shame list?
