Ok, feel free to do something that looks both dangerous and tiring.
I'll read a nice book whilst you break your arms.

Please tell me they had the proper frame of mind to train their flexability and muscular endurance before attempting any of this.

I refuse to even consider that you may have a point.

Schools should have optional parkour courses so that all these dumb fuckers don't kill themself imitating Prince of Persia.

I feel that schools should have optional Parkour courses so that idiots DO kill themselves imitating Prince of Persia.  Thanks to modern medicine evolution is at a virtual standstill.  We need some kind of voluntary natural selection.  Somebody who needs a warning label on a knife that says, "don't stick this in your eye" is precisely the kind of person whom I feel the world would be better off with them sticking knives into their eyes.

Why bother with that? Just give everyone a bottle of amonia and one of bleach with a stern warning that you shouldn't mix them.

Because Parkour is cool and badass and (if you're NOT a moron the world would be better off without) it lets you learn how to do things like imitate the Prince of Persia or get away from James Bond until he gets in a bulldozer.

Parkour is like video games. There was a time when it was unpopular and scoffed on. Nowdays it's mainstream.

The other day I had to pay a fine because I was riding down the stairs to the subway on my bicycle. There was no way of convincing the idiot of a cop that it doesnt make a difference whether I do it on foot or on bike; for me (and the other people around) it's just as safe, because yes, there is the possibility to learn that stuff until you master it.

If I had been walking and carrying my bike there would have been the same chance of me slipping and my bike getting out of control, tumbling down the stairs and hurting somebody. But that way I wouldnt have had to pay that silly fine.

The funny part is... I was going slowly. To maintain control. That's why the cop caught me in the first place. I could have just raced down the stairs, he never would have been able to catch up, but alas, I might have startled people that way.

Moral of the story: dont give a damn about people, that way you wont have to pay. I bet thats exactly the lesson that stupid pig tried to get across.

actually, I think the moral was: Don't ride your bike down a public stairway.

Yes, at first I thought so, too. But it just HAS to be wrong.

Just see it like this: safety is the same. But if I carry my bike instead of riding it (that's what the law over here is requesting), I need double the space. In a world in which the population is growing at an alarming rate and cities are getting more overcrowded by the hour this lesson would just be IRRESPONSIBLE.

I'm sorry, but that logic just seems... broken.

The safety is not the same Puck. You are endangering the lives of yourself and others. If you slip down while carrying the bike, you would likely cause less damage than if your bike goes out of control and starts rolling down the stairs.

Not to mention you cause a public disturbance.

If I slip while riding it, it's much more likely the bike lands on it's side and picks up less speed than it would when I carry it. (in that context "carrying" would mean grabbing it by the handlebar and leading it down the stairs, with the brakes slightly pulled. Thats how its "legal" over here. If I lost it that way, it would take right off.... wweeeeeeee)

If you think I would fall in a way in which the bike would still remain on it's wheels... then I wouldnt fall  ;)

It's hard to picture for people that dont do that stuff themselves, but believe me, its the same thing as with your parcours thingy.
Outsiders think it's a lot more dangerous than it really is, if you know what you are doing.
