Let me tell you about what I hate. Parkour being called dangerous and unsafe because idiots do it wrong.

Let me tell you about something I do. Parkour.

Let me tell you about the public opinion of what I do. People constantly worry for my safety.

Let me tell you about something strange. Most injuries result from falling/landing wrong. Even in other sports.

Let me tell you about something quite different. I've had my fair share of crashes and accidents. All of which I escaped uninjured due to proper falling and landing from my parkour training.

Let me tell you about why I made this topic. I want the answer.

Let me ask you the question. Why am I being berated for practicing a sport that can, will and did save my life?

 Because you are jumping around 60+ story buildings and acting like a ninja.

 But really, it's just something new to people. Some people find it exotic and try it despite a lack of training, and other fear it for being different.

It really looks great. I saw a film I guess it had something like Yamakasi in its name. It was all about french people doing parkour.

No offense really. Like you said, I hate only people that do it wrong. Heh, heard a story once about a master of parkour falling from a skyscrapper. I guess that hurt

My age is showing.

Both videos look like bored guys jumping off of buildings.

There are no right or wrong ways to jump off of buildings.

There are right and wrong ways to take a fall or plant a jump.

In that first video, this "David Belle" jumps down a staircase and lands, heels on, on a railing.

You learn how to do that the right way by doing it wrong way a whole lot of times.

I like you and all Yanlin, but what you're all doing is called being bored and running around.

I did the same stuff when I was eight, I was just harder to injure then.

Some are bored so they run around a field, chasing a ball. These guys jump over buildings. I don't see why first one's any different then the second? Plus, this looks cool.

Also, about danger... Hydrochloric acid is dangerous, right? Well, it's something I work've with on a monthly basis for over half a year now, and I'm still in one piece. It's not the acid that's dangerous, it's ignorance

What I was referring to was Parkour fans who refuse to accept that Parkour is those things as well.

Sadly, the people who I know that 'do' parkour are total idiots. Im not generalising, but seriously these people are. Its honestly the most awkward thing to watch when you see people do it. Its got bad connotations of being a past fad in my mind.

Now, I don't hate it, far from it, I think its clever development on the whole 'walking or taking the bus' scenario. Its just the people i've seen doing it are quite frankly stupid.

I blame the growing popularity. I hate to say the canned elitist phrase, but I was doing it before it got popular.

See, lots of people think it's easy. It is easy. But not THAT easy.

Also, contrary to popular belief, there is a proper way to jump off AND land. If you jump badly, you WILL land badly.
