The Evolving Game Turn 1
« on: March 07, 2009, 08:51:06 pm »

As the title might not make it clear, this will be a forum game with slowly changing rles, sort of like a nomic, except that I'll be the only one to change them.

The intended goal is to, through trial, error, and experimentation develop the ultimate(or failing that, at least a very good) forum game.

The initial rules:
Quote
1: The game will take place during turns.
2: Only 5 players for now.
3: Once sufficient intrest has been acquired, the game will begin.

So post if you want to join, currently all you need to give me is your name(for now it will use your username, although I don't see custom in-game names as an issue later)

Current players:
-Emperor_Jonathan
-Vaiolis
-Karlito
-Pandarsenic
-SHAD0Wdump

Waiting list:
-Shades

The following spoiler box will contain links to important posts(mostly turns) in case it becomes too long.

The current ruleset:
Quote
1: The game will take place during turns.
2: Only 5 players for now.
3: During each turn each player chooses an action.
4: At the end of the turn the last posted action for each player will be used.
5: Actions can be anything but success will vary. Actual method undecided.

Okay, now comes the hard part: figuring out where to start.

Hmm..

<will edit as I come up with something>
(unchanged in italics, removed in strikethrough, changed fragments in bold)
Quote
1: The game will take place during turns.
2: Only 5 players for now.

3: Once sufficient intrest has been acquired, the game will begin.
3: During each turn each player chooses an action.
4: At the end of the turn the last posted action for each player will be used.
5: Actions can be anything but success will vary. Actual method undecided.

The initial situation will be basically the construct from the matrix series, as it is only temporary until a proper plot/setting can be created.

Edit: also, each major post will have a link to the first, previous, and next major posts.

First Post(A bit redundant for round one)
Next post(player setting poll)

I suggest you take a base system first. Take a non-extreme version of RTD, the D6 system. Action results are scaled appropriately to the roll, no specific "overshots", players have levels, HP, skills, and other boring stuff. Work from there.

A turn lasts until I say so, and I corrected rule 4.

Also, I need a vote:

1:
a) magic
b) technology
c) both
d) none

2:
a) future
b) present
c) past

3:
a) space
b) cave
c) dungeon
d) city

I don't want to FORCE a situation on you guys, since you signed up without a determined setting, so I will base the next bit on that. We will only change setting to it once the gameplay mechanics are somewhat refined(a couple of turns)

For now, just post anything "reasonable"(at least as reasonable as can be in a room where almost anything is possible)

B
C
D

I think that probably equals steampunk.

I'd have said ccd not bcd based on most steampunk games/books I've seen.

Can I go on a waiting list incase rule 2 changes qwerty?
