Amusing Civ names
« on: March 06, 2009, 05:59:39 pm »

I know we've had threads like this pop up now and again, but I got one today that was just too funny not to share.

A Bugbear civ in my world is called The Torment of Juice.

For some reason, that just cracked me up.  ;D

"I know we have all these different types of booze and stuff, but, you know, all I really want is some nice orange juice."

"I know! Woe is us! Woe!"

Emo bugbears...what is the world coming to?

Oh well. As for me, I'd call it amusing when the RNG actually manages to make one sensible name. I enjoy it when names make sense, and sometimes they even do. Also, for some reason, I seem to like koboldish names, especially when they are long and utterly unspellable.

My examples of good names would be:
1) A huge goblin empire occupying all the west of a 63x63 world and named West Curse!
2) Rough Steel. An ultimately dwarven name. Might once name a founding group with that.
3) Thragachlulgin. No comments.

Too bad I can't provide screenshots :( I do extensive modding and have to delete and recreate worlds every day or so. And for some reason, names do not always match for the same seed with different raws.

Atu Guz, 'the flies of comedy', goblin.

Thabadakrorsnin, 'Thabadakrorsnin', kobold. (All well and good, but WHAT DOES IT MEAN?)

A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

My favorite goblin civ name was "The Menace of Kisses".
