Anyone done any modding to the shape descriptor?
« on: March 05, 2009, 03:45:32 am »

Not sure I understand what this does entirely, but if it does what I think, it comes into play with engravings and a few other things (artifacts?).

The current file is varied, but pretty mundane, so I got the bright idea to start adding in new entries. I added in helix/helixes, and then hit a brick wall about other things to add.

Anyone modded theirs? If so, what did you add?

There was a mod with a ton of new shape descriptors a while ago, can't remember who put it together tho. I'll post what I have.

::edit:: Dammit, I've just got the vanilla shapes, sorry  :-\

Want to post what you've got? I'd appreciate it.

Umiman's It's the small things has some new shape descriptors.

I think it's a vastly amusing thought that elephants are so afraid of heights that when Dwarves invented the Z-axis, they couldn't bear to face dwarves in combat anymore.

I added skulls once upon a time. Adjectives were human, goblinoid, animal, and draconic.  Ended up fitting nicely, but I don't have the raws anymore.

Others that might work is Fruit (tropical, large, bundles of) or Rivers (Flowing, carp infested, bloody, frozen).

I haven't got anything, yet :P

Was kinda why I posted in the first place. I'll keep looking around and adding things I find interesting. If I get a bunch of stuff together, I'll post an update here.

Awesome, thanks. Checking this out ^^ EDIT: Here is 'the small things' shape descriptor file for anyone interested who doesn't want to download the mod:

Good ideas. In order to use the [ADJ:something], does it need to have a [WORD:something]?

Spoiler: Anti-Vista Rant (click to show/hide)
Except for the fact that none of that is Vista's fault...
Spoiler: Blahblah offtopic (click to show/hide)
As far as actually staying on topic, Umiman's small things mod is really the best, as described already.
And on another note, I think shapes are one of the few things you can add without generating a new world.  I think.  Somebody care to try it?  As I mentioned in another topic, I'm in the middle of a special-ruleset fortress - absolutely no modding once game has started being one of them.
