Windows users, unite! How do you beat this game on hard mode? I can't even get close. It feels like all the tricks and rules that applied to medium don't work anymore.

40% win rate on medium. I want to move up the difficulty.

I have yet to do that. Vista's chess on hard is pretty hardcore as well.

Multiplayer minesweeper all the way! [Ah wait, I think that's a Windows Messenger game?  ;D]

Are we cheating or not?

Rule 1:  Cheat (Undo) to see every card possible
Rule 2:  Only make a bad stack(not color for color) if it will reveal new cards
Rule 3:  Consolidate at every opportunity (color for color)
Rule 4:  Be prepared to lose a lot
Rule 5:  Be smart about what you put in empty slots.  Somethings got to go there, and it should be the most likely playable card the next go round.

I've always assumed undo wasn't cheating. You already get penalized point-wise for it.

Not making bad stacks is impossible on hard. Four suits rarely ever match up, and each time you deal the new set, every stack goes bad.

It's a goal...

Basically it's a heuristic I use:  If I can move a card, but it won't reveal a face down card and it isn't correct, don't move it.  (I.E. Don't make every possible move)

That's probably it. On medium, it's better to make every possible move so you can have easier reorganization when you get a free slot. On hard, it would be actually be worse to make those extra moves because it just makes more bad stacks.

It all makes sense now! Kind of.

Mind you, that's just how I play...

It's not so much the bad stacks as it is the possibilities.  If you've got a 7spades on a Kinghearts and move it to the 8clubs, you won't be able to move the 7clubs to it if that pops up.  It's something you can't readily undo.  On the other hand, if you decide you need the Kinghearts for something later, you just move it then.  (the possibility of it being buried not-withstanding)

Basically if it doesn't create good stacks or reveal cards, don't do it.
