Giant money pit (think Urist McDuck)
« on: March 04, 2009, 02:29:54 pm »

Look, I'm jus' saying. Let the items stack and act like fluids when in enormous quantities. I'm having a hard time finding a secure and large location for coin piles, so why not dump them in a 6x6x5 money pit and designate coins for dumping?

Urist McDuck has drowned in coins.

I fully support large masses of items forming flows and eventually solid blocks. Imagine your garbage pit filling with rotting crap. Then collapsing smugglers and the children of your guard captain in the stuff.

I should probably say... that swiming in a pool of gold, silver, or heck even chocolate coins would be incredably hard to impossible.

Though I do support not only Giant Money Pits... but I want SOMETHING to serve as kind of a Treasure vault and have it be recognised as such.

Treasure vaults please!

I like this idea...  but it would probably unnecessarily complicate the game's internal handling of money.

Now I want a giant tank of coins so that I can crush the goblins in what they came for in sweet, bloody irony.

But if it applied broadly, it'd make for a nice balance to quantum stockpiles.

Now I want a giant tank of chocolate coins so I can test this hypothesis.

thing is, you will literally float upwards on the coins as they move, especially gold.

or rub exposed skin and clothing on raw metal edges.

Yum.

But yes, such a system will have us building fortress walls out of piles of whatever we want. In such a system, I shall create the first Chunkfortress the Tower of Chunks.

I like this idea...

Like it, or not...I don't know that what would be the point in having a "feature" like this.  ???

You don't see the point in items behaving realistically? With this, if you dumped 30,000 stones in a single square they would slip and form a pile as they would in real life. Things might even roll down ramps... ever wanted to set a rock slide on those gobbos?

Hey mortal stop stealing my ideas ;V

But yeah, how awesome would it be to fill some z levels with coins and having your dorfs walking around on it, or a quarry with mountains of stockpiled loose stones?
Or relating to what Duke 2.0 said, garbage pit as a moat

Hilarity ensues
