pit/pond canceled: inappropriate building? help!
« on: March 03, 2009, 05:25:49 pm »

so I made a death platform over a bottomless pit and put a pit/pond zone next to the edge so it was adjacent to "Open space"

when ever I tell something to get chucked over the edge. the dwarf approaches the creature/ opens the cage and then say
"pit/pond large creature canceled:inappropriate building." now I would understand that if it had no adjacent open space tiles. but this clearly DOES have open space next to it.
am i doing something wrong and just don't know what? this is the first critter pit I have ever made, all my info is by going of pit/pond wiki stuff

Mine works just fine, but it consists of the area next to the hole, and the Open Space itself. Have you tried that?

The *large serrated steel disk* strikes the Raven in the head, tearing apart the muscle, shattering the skull, and tearing apart the brain!
A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.
