I have a 75 dwarf fortress, an above-ground structure made from green glass. Getting in requires going through a 3-wide tunnel that the caravans normally don't have any trouble with. But this year, the dwarven caravan disappeared; I saw them come in on the edge of the map and head toward the tunnel. I went to check on something else, and when I looked to see if they were at my Depot yet, they were gone. There was no announcement, and they weren't on the units list. The liason was fine, and one of the wagons dropped all of its items, but everything else vanished.

Do you have any trees growing in the tunnel, or vicious animals in the area?

There aren't any trees in the tunnel, and there are wolves in the area. But none of the caravan units showed up as deceased- they just disappeared.

I think creatures can scare off caravans without actually killing anyone.  Does the wagon show up as deceased at least?  They might have attacked it directly.
