Strange, I've never seen Community on the boards before. Oh well, the more RTDs the merrier.
Wait, what?
Here's the deal. It's a RTD. Except, there is no GM, and no player list. Instead, there are forumgoers.
Forumgoer A posts an action for RTDguy 1.
Forumgoer B posts an action for RTDguy 2.
Forumgoer C posts the results of these actions.
Forumgoer D posts an action for RTDguy 1.
Forumgoer C posts an action for RTDguy 2.
Forumgoer E posts the results of these actions.
And so on.
Rules regarding that part of it:
-Don't post twice in one round
-One round is from the first action to the GM posting results. Round 1: action, action, action, results Round 2: action, action, action, results.
-Don't fuck up the game too much
You know the basic RTD drill. An example of dice throwing:
here.
Combat works like this: Guy1 atacks Guy2: Throw die for guy1
1:Guy2 gets an attack
2:Guy2 hurts Guy1
3:Stalemate. Bruising, maybe?
4:Guy2: Dodge roll
5:Guy2: Dodge roll with -1 penalty
6:Super attack. If Guy2 is a non-important NPC, instakill (Guy2: Dodge roll with -2 penalty)
Training in combat gives bonuses to your own attacks, and penalties to your opponents.
Dodging works like this: Guy2 attacks guy one, throws a four: Throw die for guy1
1:-2 to damage roll
2:-1 to damage roll
3:Guy1 gets hit
4:+1 to damage roll
5:You dodge completely
6:Guy1 retaliates (Combat roll for Guy1)
Training in combat gives penalties to your opponents dodge roll. Agility gives bonuses.
Damage works like this: Guy2 attacks guy one, hits, Guy1 throws a 3 on his dodge roll. Throw die for guy1
1:If guy1 is not important, Instakill. If guy1 is important, severe damage. (Lung pierced)
2:Very bad damage. (leg broken with bone sticking out and stuff)
3:Damage. (Arm broken)
4:Light damage (Bleeding)
5:Just a scratch (little pain)
6:You are... immortal?
Using any weapon at all gives penalties to the opponents damage roll. Armour gives bonuses.
Skills work like this:
1xp-Dabbling: Less severe failures
3xp-No tag: +1 to related rolls, except for ones.
6xp-Adept: +1 to all roles, optional -1 to sixes
10xp-Master: 1>2 2>4 3>5 4>6 5>6 6>6, optional -1 to sixes.
15xp-legendary: Free action.
1xp is gained per use. 2xp is gained on a six.
Skills may be made up as you go along, but try to keep things organised.
Wounds can cause pain. Pain is a -1 to all roles, Severe pain is a -2 to all roles. Severe pain becomes pain after one round.
Wounds may also cause specific penalties. For example, if your leg is broken, moving around is no longer a free action, you have to hop.
Other penalties might include exhaustion (-1 to active actions), headache (-1 to thinky actions), noisy armour (-1 to sneaky actions).
Free actions aside from your normal crazy actions, you may
-move a short distance
-make idle chit-chat
-pick up an item
-re-arange your inventory (wear stuff, take stuff off)
-perform simple actions (pull levers, open doors)
If the GM decides that the free action is not free after all, only the main action will be performed.
Multiple free actions may be performed if no roll action is tried.
Disclaimer: I have not taken this from a different forum. I have not seen it before. I just thought, hey, that might work.
Before I say "
You Guy1 wakes up in a room with no clothes on", comment. Would this work? Are the rules ok? Are they strict enough to protect from
'LOL YOUR THROW A 7 AND KIL ALL THE PEEPLES IN TEH WOLRD'?
Also, ask questions.
