Chh, there be your reason. Your dwarves were raised by elves, all frilly and such. And they sent ye as a lesson that nature is forever powerful, which it proved to be (to the elves). A real dwarf though will kick mother nature in the face and continue to haul their sock to the stockpile.

I'm working on a blog-fort called "Mosesetur". I forget what it stands for, but the thing's going to be full of, "My sister/Your sister" jokes.

My current one is named Towerruler and because of that I just had to build a tower reaching to the max z-level where my mayor lives. He regulary has to turn around when he climbs the stairs to get water, its just way to high.

At most that's 15-20 tiles. That is, unless you use an awesome staircase instead of just a 3x3 up/down shaft. Or you have a stupidly large number of z-levels. both of which I endorse.

I didnt plan on it, but I just had to start building when I saw the randrom Fort name. My fort itself is pretty low so I basically minded out a way though the whole mountain up ;)

You can see 2 Towers, one is done and the other one is still being build, I will add more for futher nobels.

As for Stairs...
I use a rather ... individual Style...

Oh and intrestingly enough a season after the tower was done a whole bunch of apes just climbed it and stole my mayors cloths  - a quick match with my dabbling wrestlers send a lot of people (and apes) flying ...

Later on I might replace the button with supports so I can collapse them when the nobel in it gets to picky.

Oh and btw; The apes took the mayors pants out of his cabinet and spread them around the world after they ... slipped ,... of the tower.

It's refined sugar, and if dwarven biology is similar to human biology (I imagine there are just more beard cells) then sugar (which is what makes syrup, although your body gets forms of it from a lot of foods, especially ones with fat) DOES fuel your dwarves! It's being converted into heat and electricity in their little bodies right now!

Looking at the picture he did, and that is awesome.

Also, as the hell-hole has been mentioned: WELCOME TO FUCKING BOATMURDERED!

The best I ever got was CrafterTrumpets, my other forts I either never bothered looking at the name before I ran it into the ground, the name wasn't interesting, or I made the name myself.
