I had found a great place. Magma, chasm, underground water...

Oh, but it was on a freezing and terrifying mountain, tundra, glacier and taiga.

I just hit the random button until I found something good. "Slaughterwheel".

It lived up to its name. Not only that, but for some reason, I never got any caravans, not even from dwarves. Guess all the extra megabeasts I added in ate all the civilizations around.

Not mine, but my roommate decided to embark in a haunted desert in the middle of nowhere, which had tons of skeletal horses.

I once had a fort with the name Ashenhame (House of Ashes). While it didn't fit at first, a bronze colossus showed up and made the name more appropriate. Dust to dust and ashes to Ashenhame.

Better than that, my current fort is run by a local goverment that calls itself The Ownership of Air! Better yet, the Duchess in charge is quick to anger and dislikes intellectual discussions. Seems like the RNG nailed the despotic character of my dwarfs.

although it wasn't a fortress, i believe i had an adventurer "bibancim". translate it yourself.

for fortresses, i think i had a "AgedFish of Smelling"... and "the Age of Spiders".

my most recent would not be random, but "ElfWheel of Slaughter" sounds good

My current fort is called Ringmurders.

Quite fitting seeing as my entire starting population plus the first 2 waves of immigrants were slaughtered by goblin ambushes leaving two babies struggling untill the next big immigrant wave that basically reclaimed the fort. Now the murders are taking their turn in the ring and I am slaughtering all of the goblin ambushes with one, single marksdwarf. Up untill now he hasn't been injured yet and killed over 15 gobbos and over 20 other dangerous critters in my area.

Oh, my group name?

I once got a fortress named the Aged Axe-Anger of Angels, or something similar.  I liked the alliteration.

Alliteration always annoys astronauts and agreeable artisans, after all.

currently i have "freindlyworks", and my government is called "the flickering treaty", which i like a lot. like a little candle flame flickering in the dark.

a long time back i had a dwarf parent civ called "the tomb of adventuring". as much as the weird random names are interesting, its great when it actually throws something relevant and cool at you.

Cogniles, "Bootstrapped" -- for my last-dwarves-in-the-world fortress, where I showed up with 1 seed of each type, 2 chunks of tetrahedrite, an anvil, and a novice appraiser.  Oh, and 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 cows.

I admit it wasn't random; what was random was the previous attempt where I noticed I'd forgotten the novice appraisal, which was Bootstrapped the something of something.  I restarted and kept the fitting part that I remembered.

Bootstrapped now has population well over 100, and has started its second native-born generation.

My current fortress is Keshaninod, Flamegate. To honour the name, its main entrance (a multi-level marksdwarf-compatible gatehouse) has a red stone drawbridge.

In my last adventure game (different region), I found out one of the human capitals was called Virginwet.

Both names came up 100% randomly. ;)

I did a embark now to quickly test something, and the RNG named it
The frilly fortress of forever.
It was embarked too close to the magma pipe and the fire imps blew up all the booze nearly killing everyone.
The survivors either went insane or was eaten by the carps in an attempt to run away from the boiling booze and fire imps.
