Traveling
As you travel along the plain, the dot ahead becomes larger and take shape. It is the Earl's castle! It's just the same as you left it.

The gates are closed, and a few guards patrol around the walls.

Discreetly hiding the severed head by removing his wolf skin cloak and wrapping it up inside it, Captain Inaluct rides with the group to the gate and hails the gate controller.

"Greetings! I am Captain Inalucteh, and these are my men; the remnants of the Earl's army. We come bearing urgent news for the Earl!"

[Squeegy]

The guard replies gruffly, "Nobody leaves. Nobody gets in. No exceptions."

[inaluct]

"Tell Earl Thompson that the defense failed. The enemy may very well be coming this way as we speak. Tell him that a Captain, four Sergeants, and a friendly knight of Duke Wallis bring him this news."

((I couldn't work Newmar into that.))

[Squeegy]

The guard looks around warily, then repeats his mantra. "Nobody leaves. Nobody gets in. No exceptions."

[inaluct]

Captain Inaluct looks around to make sure no one but the guard hears what he is about to say before narrowing his eyes and cautiously whispering;

"The raven lands on the oak at dawn."

[Squeegy]

The guard puts his hand on his sword, but does not reply.

[inaluct]

"Well, I see you are not of the Brotherhood, then. A shame. But the importance of the news we bring is magnified with every second that you dawdle. I am Captain Inalucteh, and I am of a higher rank than you. I order you to either admit us, or deliver the message yourself. Otherwise, you are guilty of insubordination. Do you want that charge, or do you want to admit us and receive a commendation from your Earl for assisting us in bringing such valuable news?"

Perhaps some bribery is in order.

I discretely throw my gold coin up to the guard.

Germany, specificly the Rhine region, had coined the term Raubritter, which is the GERMAN word for Robber-Baron. Germany is in Europe. Raubritters are in europe. Raubritters and Robber-Barons for that matter are EXACTLY the same thing.
