FOOT SOLDIERS
You are a foot soldier in the Earl Thompson's army. You have been sent to meet an army marching towards the Earl's castle. Your forces were routed and only five of you barely managed to escape. You are, obviously, one of those five. You flee into the trees and escape your pursuers, but now you are lost in the forest. You must make your way back to the Earl and warn him that the defense has failed, at all costs. Be wary, the enemy still searches for you in the trees.
GAMEPLAY:
Should you escape to your Earl's castle, you are presented with choices. First and foremost is obviously to warn the Earl, but you can also sell any loot you've acquired, buy armor, weapons, and mounts, rest your wounds, or store items. Be warned, if the castle is sacked all items will be stolen by the attackers and all shops will be destroyed.
You start off as a foot soldier, with only a shield and a weapon. You may advance in ranks and buy armor and better weapons, perhaps even a mount. Once you have a mount you advance from foot soldier to knight. However, you are not an official Knight of the Realm until a nobleman knights you, but are considered a limited knight until then.
You don't have to work with your fellow player. You may abandon them, backstab them, or turn on them when the situation gets bad. However, teamwork is your best chance of survival. But you can still have any hidden backstory you like...
COMBAT:
Combat will be based on die rolls. On default, attacks have a 50% chance of hitting. This can change, for example if your health is very low this may be shortened to 25%. If your attacker is on a horse and you have a dagger, 10%. If the enemy has a shield or buckler, they will roll to block, usually a 50% chance. Then if the hit passes, you will roll against the armor. No armor has a 5% chance of blocking a hit, chain a 25%, and plate a 50%. When battle starts you are all required to post what you will do during the battle and I will play it out to the finish in real time, editing as the battle goes along. Experience is used solely for unlocking skills, which can do anything from raising your hit chance to allowing you to use a certain weapon, and for raising HP.
