Strange artifacts!
« on: February 27, 2009, 06:15:53 am »

Alright, here's a topic for you to post your strangest artifact, whatever the hell it is! Doesn't matter if its bugged, in fact, being bugged makes it MORE strange.
Now, I'll go first:

"This is a chrysoprase." WTF!?

I could be something like ... he took stone and carved negative spikes in it. So at the end there is this chrysoprase and it menaces with spikes. It weights a little less but is significantly more dwarven.

Precisely!
I wonder what it's considered anyway? I'll check the stocks menu :).
EDIT: Umm, it's a "large gem" now, so I got something BIGGER.
Slap in the face for physics...

Your gem cutter carved the gem perfectly, he did not actually construct the thing.

Wierdest artifact? Hmmm, in recent memory there was a cat leather backpack called "The Day of Screams". It leaves me wondering just how the dwarf got the leather for it.

I think the whole large gem thing thing has to do with the jeweler removing less of the gem to get the desired cut as opposed to the standard where he botches the job a few times so it's mouse sized instead of Turkey sized.

That's what DF needs, The gutbuster brigade.  Screw that elf and his cat. Thibbledorf Pwent is the real hero.

Most of my artifacts are pretty standard. I got a goblin bone pick, once. I never got around to setting one of my military to use it, though.

I got a cougar bone pick once. I set a miner to hunting duty, he strangled 2 cougars, got a mood, and made a pick out of their bones. I thought it was fitting.  ;D

They don't make one small gem.  The make several small gems that are kept together and used together.  Hence why the item is called "chrysoprases" instead of "chrysoprase" (plural instead of singular).

So far my weirdest have been a Horse Bone Warhammer and then later a mountain goat warhammer.
They were the most metal things ever.
I actually made a comic for it.  Gotta find a way to host the image.

I still can't get over the dwarf who thought mules were so damn awesome only dragon leather would do to capture their brilliance. I'm sure the details on that little mule picture are the reason why an entire fucking dragon produced only enough leather for a single sandal.

The raccoon's still there, though.  Just chilling out.  Being a raccoon in some rocks.
