Eh?  Powerstone is a Dreamcast game.

Oh then I guess I need to buy the current generation Sega console for that. OH WAIT

Silly monkey.  Sega stopped making consoles after the Dreamcast. :D

Silly monkey. Doesn't know obvious feigned ignorance of sarcasm because the sarcasm didn't make sense given the context on an internet board.

Meh, I get my money's worth out of live with it's matchmaking functionality.  PS3's network may be free, but meh.

I'm also using the Netflix streaming capability.

I think my point about somebody paying for the network was mistaken.

For my internet connection, I pay my ISP. The ISP hosts a server that connects me to the internet through their server. I don't see how the PS3 can cut out the middleman.

Well if you want to get technical... The Xbox360 doesn't cut out the middleman either. They just charge you extra.

I think it may be a general misunderstanding on your part.
PS3's service requires an ISP but has no fee to access their network.
XBox's service requires an ISP as well and then has an additional fee to use the network features (Multiplayer games and the like)

PS3's service is not as unified and featureful as they've left the system open to developers to be customized for each game's needs. This however leaves many PS3 games without some features of live. Personally, I would rather play my multiplayer games with no additional charge.

I pay for ISP separate.

What I get for my Gold Membership (chatting I think doesn't gold, but I don't know)

1: Chatting
2: Ability to see friends from MSN (I.E. PC chat) and XBL, as well as what games XBL people own and are playing
3: Good ability to invite and join friends in games
4: Ability to play in online games (including pretty good matchmaking code)
5: Updates and added content for almost every game
6: Demos for new games, both real and xbl arcade
7: ability to download micro (community games), both demo and full
8: Game videos
9: Ability to rent movies (for a fee)
10: Streaming Netflix (I have netflix, so this is an added bonus)

Yah, there is no question that you do get more from XBL, although most of the things you listed are also available on the free PSN as well.
1> Chatting, both voice and text.
2> Ability to see what games friends are playing.
3> Ability to invite and join friends in games (being added to in the next game as well to be more on-par)
4> Ability to play in online games (the matchmaking service is not unified however ,each game developer has to figure out their own solution, so that is certainly a point for Xbox)
5> Updates and added content for almost every game.
6> Demos for new games, both retail and PSN
7> Sony currently has no community solution a la XNA so this is a clear point for MS.
8> Game Videos, as well as trailers for bluray and theatrical movie releases.
9> Ability to rent and buy movies for a fee.
10> Not netflix, but sony has their own similar service run through the PSN Store with a rather large selection of movies and TV shows.

Online for 360 is worth the price if you play online often enough. It works very well.

I'm gonna want a PS3 when White Knight / God of War 3 / Shin Megami games come out.

Your girlfriend will enjoy Little Big Planet no doubt, least mine does.

The thing about PS3 online is each game looks after its own online stuff. Since the last ps3 update you can press the center button and it brings you to messaging, online list, it also shows who's playing what. When not playing a game you get chatting and other crap, you also have a web browser. I use online alot for COD, and End War, I don't think Xbox feature would help all that much

It's not Shin Megami.  It's Megami Tensei, or Shin Megami Tensei.  Shame on you, you do not deserve your avatar!

Ehhh, it is basically surviving through Snob Appeal

Warning: Snob appeal has little to do with snobs. So don't take it as an insult on your tastes.
