Tile Edit: Sand
« on: February 26, 2009, 11:59:33 am »

Hey, I just found a perfect spot, limestone, magma, brook, hfs, you name it, but I don't have any sand.

How would I go about using Tweak to edit a tile? I pressed "K" and launched it, but the various switches and [Set tile to: Muddy/Mossy] are kind of intimidating.
Thanks in advance, Footkercheif.

Just add [SAND] to a soil on your map in raws. It won't  require the world regen.

Using the ForEachTile addon for Tweak makes this much easier.

I'm pretty sure you do need a world regen after adding a [SAND] tag.

Nope, you don't. I've done it many times in the past. This is one awesome edit that opens up many good spots that would otherwise be overlooked due to lack of sand.

As a matter of fact, leaving extra sand tags in can screw up world gen, as the game relies upon that tag to determine what soil appears where. You'll get deserts of [SOIL_SAND] clay and the like.

Hm... could you do something like that to make vast deserts of iron?

Sadly, no. Soil doesn't leave stone, so you'd get vast fields of magnetite that can't be mined. Although, you could remove the tag after embarking and...oh my.

Or do it with coal, and embark on a coal-desert map with a magma vent...  ;D
