Peasant Adventure! The World of Suffering!
« on: February 26, 2009, 02:38:09 am »

Ever wanted to play an Adventure game that allowed you to make creative choices, work as a team, and do combat? Then Peasant Adventure is for you!

Allow me to explain the world and rules:
In PA, you and two other players are given a special task by your lord, and you complete it through any means necessary. However, you're but a peasant, with little to his name, so you gotta think on your feet!

When the game starts, you'll be presented with a map of the building you're in, the region you're in, a thorough description of whats around you, and of the entire Dukedom you live in. From there you can choose what to do. You can do ANYTHING you want, however, keep in mind that you're just a normal human, and you can't do supernatural or incredible things, you can only do things a normal person could do (For example, examine "thing", talk to "person", Go to "Place", etc) and only one at a time, so long as it's feasible. Please be specific when taking your action, I WILL NOT redo a turn because of bad wording. Don't worry though, I won't be a jerkass about detail.

Whenever a Player makes a choice or is in a situation where an inherent element of chance is involved, I will flip a coin to determine the outcome. Heads produces a favorable outcome, Tails produces and unfavorable outcome.

I will play all NPC's and all enemies, so don't worry about that.

The world you live in is a Pagan one, there are many gods that rule over the land. This is no blind faith, the gods are quite eccentric and frequently use their powers to harm or help those on the mortal plane. You'll learn more about gods as you play, but be forewarned, gods don't have to follow rules, anything they say goes, period. So be careful not to piss them off.

Each person in PA, including you, has a maximum of 20 hp, Animals and supernatural creatures can have more or less than this. If you are injured, you regain 3 hp per day. It is possible to recover more, but that won't be discussed here. When you hit 0 hp exactly, you are unconscious and can be resuscitated by another player to bring you back to 1 hp. If you ever fall below 0 hp, you are dead, period. It is possible to bring dead characters back to life, but that won't be discussed here.

Creativity is, by far, your greatest weapon. You can carry a maximum of 5 objects, not including your outfit. There are many items, hoard them, and use them creatively to complete your goals. All item uses have to be feasible though. Money is considered an item, you can hold up to the equivalent of 50 of any coin before it consumes another slot of space. You can hold more if you find a backpack or something like that.

There is currency in PA, in the form of copper, silver, and gold coins. It is easy to remember the value of these:

1 gold coin = 10 silver coins

1 silver coin = 10 copper coins

You can use these to purchase things at stores.

Be careful not to break the law, just because you're on a quest doesn't give you any right to steal or murder innocent citizens. If you are seen doing illegal things, and the authorities are made aware, they WILL try to apprehend you, where you will be expected to pay a fine, and if you cannot pay, you are sentenced to death on the spot, as is the law of the land.

There is combat in PA, where everyone (mostly) follows the same rules.

Spoiler: Combat Rules (click to show/hide)

Players are not obligated to stay as a group. While travelling as a group is much safer (combat, pooled resources, etc), you're not forced to travel as a group and can travel in different directions and do different things if you like.

a turn ends when all players have decided what they want to do, or if a reasonable time frame (24 hours or something) pass.

I will do all the dice rolling in this game, I promise to be impartial. If there is a way to prove that I am being fair, I will do it.

I made up all these rules, If you think the rules are missing anything vital, feel free to speak up.

Please stay in-character, remember, your a peasant!

As a final note, I hold the right to change any rules if I see fit. Any and all rule-changes are NOT retroactive, so past actions are safe from my ruling.

I need a three player party! Very active players would be best! Lazy players that don't take their turn within a reasonable time-frame will get ignored, and if it continues, will be struck dead somehow.

Once we have three players, I'll start the story and give you everything you need to play. Anyone else that wants in will have to wait for any person in the original three to die, where I will then work you into the game somehow.

Current Players:

Siquo
Vlynndar
ShadowDUMP

Waiting List:

Shadowdump
Exkirby
Phantom
Intueniso
mission0
Dragnar

Graveyard:

Cheeetar (Sold out by best friend, Got pulverized by hulking monster while selflessly trying to save stranger)
Rooster (Disturbed ghost of dead child, drowned in a room of blood.)
Nuke (stabbed in the back by the person he saved from certain death, Siquo. Then eaten from the inside-out by his stolen fairy children)
Jon (Paralyzed by horny spiders, then decapitated by Cube Headed man)

I can't really roleplay (except myself, or my alter-ego), and my alignment in games is usually Chaotic Stupid. But I don't want to pass up an interesting-looking forum game, so count me in. I don't suppose we'll get to choose where we are?

Oh, and this is more like RTD&D by the sound of it. ;D
Or at least some D6 system spinoff.

I'm gonna have to go with the first three, for fairness. everyone else, onto the waiting list you go!

Before I start, I want to clarify that asking me any questions about the game or asking me to make one of your items into an improvised weapon doesn't count as an action.

Also, in-character talking is a free action.

Game Start!
----------------------------------------------

One day, in the Dukedom of Earl, a letter carrier arrives at the town of Trombly and enters the Manor of Duke Cody. He sends the carrier away as he reads the letter. As he reads, his concern grows, as a matter has come up that needs addressing, but his personal army is much too small and valuable. An idea pops into his head though, he gathers the names of everyone in the village, and draws three out of a hat. Cheeetar, Jon, and Rooster.

Duke Cody has his guards pick these three peasants out of the fields and into his manor. He stands in front of them and talks to them directly.

"Look here serf-filth, your destiny has been decided today! I got a letter that informed me that an unknown bunch of imps has appeared from who-knows-where, and are harassing the residents of Piet, Trombly's sister village. This simply cannot go on, they are drastically reducing the property value! It is YOUR job to go there and kill them, stop them, anything! Just make sure that those damn imps are out of my hair!"

And with that he hands each of the chosen peasants a small pouch containing 10 silver coins, a map of Trombly, and a map of the Dukedom of Earl.

You are now standing in Duke Cody's Manor on his plush purple rug, this being the first time you've been in here, you gaze upon the wall and see fancy, colorful shields hung up on the wall. Duke Cody stands in front of you, and one of his guards (wearing +6 armor and holding a +1 axe) stands in the doorway, making sure that the peasants don't try anything fishy. Holding the small pouch (contents: 10 silver coins, Maps), you take out the map of Trombly together and lovingly scratch it to point out where each of your homes are.

Everything on the map is in the correct location, the peasant huts on the far left, the farm on the far right (growing corn, tomatos, and flowers, cause Duke Cody demands it). Then the Brothel, Store, Post Office, the Church of Extremus, the Bank, and lastly, Duke Cody's Manor.

You take out the map of the Dukedom and look at it,

you can't recognize the names of the places, because you've never been outside of your village before.

What do you do now?

Hm. I reread the OP. I think there should've been a more pronounced definition of "Three players". "You and two other players" doesn't really stand out. Yes, there is now, but it wasn't there the first time.

I say we go to the brothel to look for information from the many people that frequent there.
Talk 'guard' about 'rumours'.
If possible for a second action, I go to my house.
Edit: We all split up, get our belongings from our houses, and meet up at the brothel?

Ah, my beloved brother Cheetar. If you wish to loose all of your possesions for some whores, I'm not stopping you, please do gather information at brothel, but I will not participate in this. After all, I'm married.

I go to my house, gather any usefull belongings, but only those that fit for a long travel. After that I go to the church, and I speak to priests:

Oh, holy man of Extremus! I wish to learn about gods! Please teach me!
