I go with him.

You head back to the arena.

The proprietor greets you on the way in.

"Yes! Nice to see you. Your match is prepared, you're gonna be fighting a man that has been tearing up the Safe Matchers lately. An odd man dressed like a peasant. Now, would you care to bet on yourself winning? The maximum bet is 3 gold."

What do you do?

I think back to how much money I have.

"Yeah, I'll bet 3 gold thanks."

Oops! Big mistake on my part. You spent 6 gold and 5 silver at the armory, and I didn't subtract it from your current money!

So, do you want to redo that?

I bet all my money, 11 silver and 5 copper.

"Am I allowed to know what weapons my opponent will be using?"

"The man in question seems exceptionally poor, so he didn't have any weapons, so he just fights with his fists. His opponents have remarked that he has an exceptionally strong punch though.

Thank you for your bet. Now just step this way."

The Proprietor leads you through a tunnel to the main arena.

"Good Luck!"

(I'll get to drawing the main arena later. It's very late where I am, so I'll do it first thing in the morning.)

(( Oh I still got my GCS silk, right? ))

Well, I'm trying to find a babbling dwarf, let him make an artifact, and then take that from him as his token of thanks, so as tempting as opening that hatch is, I doubt he'll be there. Try another way.

I equip my sword!

You equip your sword as you step onto the arena!

Stand in a large, flat area, with tatters of clothing and the occasional old deady body lieing about. The crowd cheers from afar.

Your opponent stands across from you, he is in old peasant clothing, His head has wraps around it, covering his face, with only a small slit to see through, his hands and feet are wrapped similarly. The referee, with his black and white clothing, stands between you.

The referee speaks,

"Alright, fight!"

Coin Flip: Tails

You move to attack, but the masked man has the initiative!

Roll: 5 (5 + 2 - 4 = 3)

He does have a nasty punch! He deals 3 damage, you have 17 hp left.

You swing your +2 sword at him!

Roll: 4 (4 + 2 = 6)

You deal 6 damage to him! He's reduced to 34 hp.

He punches again!

Roll: 3 (3 + 2 - 4 = 1)

He deals only 1 damage to you. You have 16 hp left.

You strike him again!

Roll: 3 (3 + 2 = 5)

You deal 5 damage to him. He has 29 hp left.

Roll: 6 (6 + 2 - 4 = 4)

Combo!

Roll 5 (5 + 2 - 4 = 3)

You are dealt 7 damage! You have 9 hp left!

The Ref jumps in! Waving his hands!

"The match has been decided! The masked man is the winner again!"

The Arena guards escort you back to the lobby.

"Sorry about your loss, he's a tough one, said he's got a magic pendant from Rorschach, the god of Obfuscation, that doubles his health. He's become a crowd favorite though, so I'm more than happy to tolerate it. just rolled in earlier today. Better luck next time!"

What do you do?

(( Oh I still got my GCS silk, right? ))

Well, I'm trying to find a babbling dwarf, let him make an artifact, and then take that from him as his token of thanks, so as tempting as opening that hatch is, I doubt he'll be there. Try another way.

You spend some time exploring the cave, you find mostly dead ends, but you finally come across the Dwarven Settlement.

You quickly head over to the workshop!

"SPIDER SILK!"

The babbling dwarf rips the silk from your hands, and then starts working furiously.

You wait for some time, then he displays his newest work proudly,

"Haha! I have made Igestthebil Zelersolon Kednath, an artifact thong! I have you to thank for saving my sanity from the spirit that possessed me. You can have this artifact Thong I made!"

He gives you the artifact thong.

What do you do?

Shit.
I escape by boat. And pray to extremus to set fire to the port.

You escape by boat, you try praying to Extremus to set the port on fire, but Extremus is most likely to help in boring situations, not exciting ones.

You are floating on Pistil River.

What do you do?

Examine the thong. Inspect for menacing spikes on the INSIDE. If one or less are found, wear it.

"You're most welcome, but I'm on a quest to slay some Imps, and I believe you dislike them as well! Is there any way you can help me with that, and show me the way to above-ground?"

((Whoo GCS Thong (I should have known it wouldn't be a +10 sword)!!))
