Crossbows shouldn't have that applied.
1: They're insanely powerful against people who aren't Ace.
2: Ace is on my side
3: You're not actively dodging them, the user is just missing or your armor is deflecting them.

O.K. Removed it from crossbows...

Also: Use of "if" can be quite important, especially in the case of a marksdwarf that can fire two bolts. e.g. I fire at Ace, If the first bolt kills him then I will fire the second at Fishhook. If not, then the second shot is again aimed at Ace.
"If" cannot be used to describe what you do if you die that turn, as you will be unable to move after you respawn, even if you are yet to move that turn.

Good rule, AFD, but does it apply against a marksman shooting twice? (Second time is -1?)
Does only melee combat count? (If a crossbowdwarf shoots, then is attacked with melee, does he have a -1? And a mage's stun? A mechanics' trap?)

And secondly, why is Ace always the target-practice-dummy in your examples? ;)

No, he could. He was dishonourably and painfully whipped to death in round 11, and stunned you in round 12. I know I should be defending you ;) but the rules were followed correctly.

(that and I'd rather suck up to AFD anyway)  ;D

Ace attacks Simo with his whip. Rolls 1d8-> 8, +2 bonus-> Total=10
Simo defends with crossbow. Rolls 1d3-> 1, -2 penalty-> -1
10>-1

Fishhook attacks Simo with his Sword. Rolls 1d5->2, +2 Bonus (warrior and short sword)-> Total=4
Simo defends with crossbow. Rolls 1d3-> 3, -2 penalty (facing, paralyzed (I will not stack this with fatigue))-> Total=1
4>1

Ace lashes his whip in the air, taunting the defenseless crossbow dwarf. Simo freezes, paralyzed by the fear of the coming torture. While distracted and immobile, Fishhook sneaks up and stabs Simo in the chest with his short sword.
Pure teamwork.

Simo is reset at the red base.

Sombre attacks Trifes with his hammer, Rolls 1d7-> 1, +1 bonus (warrior)-> Total=2
Trifes defends with Pike, Rolls 1d8-> 6, -1 penalty (warrior, side facing)-> Total=5

Sombre roars then rushes the pike dwarf. His is hammer, raised and ready to crush. Trifes turns towards the charging hammerdwarf, upon hearing his raging cry. He swivels on the spot then lowers his pike.
Sombre is in such a rage he doesn't even see the pike. He runs straight into it, impaling himself on it's tip. But does this lower his rage? Hell no! Sombre continues to charge at the pike dwarf. The pike goes straight through him, but Sombre doesn't falter. He walks up the shaft of the pike, the weapon completely through him. Just as nears Trifes and is about to bring the hammer down, his body fails him. He dies on top of Trifes, thoroughly impaled.

Sombre respawns at the blue base with one less life.

Also to equal out the new fatigue rule. The -1 paralyzed penalty when defending as paralyzed is no longer in effect. Paralyzed players are already disadvantaged enough by other players moving through their square and backstabbing.
