i have a few things to clarify about a recent attack on my mini-fortress (8 adult dwarves). spring had arrived and elven merchants had just arrived, when CURSE THEM an ambush party appeared. The animals were quickly slaughtered and the elves were sent running, right into CURSE THEM another ambush. However, this time the message was different: "An ambush! Drive them out!" Humans were in this ambush. In a different fortress I've gotten the message "A Human as sprung from ambush!" So my first question is:
What is the significance of the different messages?
Next. The goblins got captured in my cages and slaughtered in my weapon trap gauntlet, but the Human passed over all the traps with ease. I trapped him in my weapon trap tower and called out my furnace operator who is pretty decent with a crossbow. There ARE fortifications carved, but when my marksdwarf, who had a weapon and ammo, was assigned to the area, she refused to shoot. I saved and tried opening the door, only to have her scream "Stop! Hammertime!" and rush at the Human like a deranged lunatic. She was gravely injured and the Human wrecked havoc. Savescummed.
I tried redrafting this dwarf, but now she won't even pick up her crossbow. It's not in a stockpile because since it's near the human, no dwarf will pick it up.
tl;dr
Second question. Can anyone explain why an armed marksdwarf would not shoot at an enemy? And can all Humans avoid traps?
