Is this bad?
« on: February 22, 2009, 11:39:33 am »

My mayor developed a new personality that I've never seen which has me kinda worried. "She doesn't really care about anything anymore." It used to not exist and then I had a pretty tragic event one autumn and now it's there. I haven't noticed any real large major side effects, but I've also only just noticed it.

She's also super dwarvenly mighty, and kills people when they need a criminal beating. I've lost 12 to her so far--could this have anything to do with it?

Actually it's a good thing. It means that they are hardened against tragedian and won't get negatives for seeing friends die/rot.  Essentially, they are hard core :P

The murders probably have something to do with it. You should execute her before you lose more dwarves.

A convenient ahem, accident, could always strike, you know? A wall could accidentally be built in front of her door, and someone might not notice until it's too late. How unfortunate.

That is the reason, yes.  Dwarves get that trait from killing things (butchering not included, oddly).

Of course butchering isn't included.  The animals butchered are just meat for the grinder; they don't belong to anyone.  It was actually a bug when people noticed that this was not the case in the 2D version.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.

Interesting, I didn't know that.  Still, the "fix" leads to odd behavior like cat-loving dwarves slaughtering kittens with wild abandon and nary an unhappy thought.  It was disappointing when I tried to drive my butchers insane by making them slaughter animals they liked.

Well, I chicken.  But I don't mind that they're butchered, ya know  ;)

By the god, get some ropes set up as prisons so she doesn't kill again!

To err is to man, as to kill your entire population because you forgot a single stone block in your incredibly amazing steam aquaduct system is to dwarf

She just killed another 3 for Disorderly Conduct to a cat (tame).

edit: Although, one had narcolepsy from a nervous injury. She died in her sleep.

Hi!

Ah, the first really valid case of justice in Dwarf Fortress I dare say :) :) :)

Anyhow, as far as I can tell, this trait does not change much about your dwarves or at least doesn't cause any problems. I am running a low-immigration fortress and because of the kobold thieves, nearly all my dwarves have reached that stage. They still function as before.

But I agree that you should build more prisons and maybe give law enforcement duties to some less powerful (and preferably unarmed) dwarves.

oh she's definitely unarmed. she does one-punch kills. I'm afraid to have her become a military dwarf because she'd just kill people in training.

I'll probably take her off "captain o' guard" duties for the safety of my fortress while I construct the jail cells, but this b---- is dwarvenly.

1) Build a 1x1 room with a weapon trap
2) Draft her and station her in there.
3) Lock the door
4) She has to sleep sometime ;D

The pull lever, spike trap works more reliably.

I don't want to kill her, she's the only dwarf I've left from the original expedition. She's been around for 10 years now...
