I think dwarfs or any race should not pick up a burning object and put it in the stockpile because its common sense and there will be a domino effect.  :'(

Common sense isn't actually all that common.

At some point dwarves will recognize burning things as hazardous and avoid them.  It is on the Dev List, and I think Toady implemented a few underlying pieces of it recently.

It's pretty obvious that this sort of behavior will be corrected at some point.

I think this technically would fall under the category of a bug. 

But yes, more than one has noticed the AI is kinda lacking and pulls a lot of CPU cycles.

This game has dragons.  It has been around since 2005.  I don't mean to sound rude, but clearly this must have been noticed before.
