maybe evaporating the ocean will require more than one bin, because you'd need to destroy the water faster than the water arrives from the map edge.
Perhaps Akhler can provide some insight into this, but if you drop the bin into the lowest part of the ocean, any water that's over open space rather than a floor ought to end up on the bin almost instantly due to pressure.

well, two bins would provide twice the instantaneousness of water destruction!

that sure put the smackdown on that first level, but i think what we really want to know is how it works with multiple Zs of ocean.

gening a world for it right now. it takes a bit to do it right. you need the m pipe above the sea level and right on the edge of the water if possible. also deposits of iron producing ore is preferable.

There is only one thing to do now: pave the ocean, connected to the mainland by a single tile, with a Bin every other square. Then, light them. Then, drop them into the ocean.

i need to dig a pit all the way to the bottom level then fill it with water and see if it starts steaming before it hits the ground and if it can take all that water on top. you know just for science ::) ;D

Hi!

Okay, I am taking this back to the roots, but this has been bugging me a lot.

The thing is, ever since I saw the OP, I had a vision in my head of a neat DF drawing, but I know I am not good at drawing DF style (tried and failed miserably). So, after a lot of hesitation, I have decided to describe it.

Just imagine an image of that bin with the burning lignite inside. Around it, you have dwarves in their normal tattered clothes, forming a circle and warming their hands, just as the stereotypical image of people around drum cans with garbage ...

I don't know, somehow this is a very strong image for me.
