Unclaimed land in international waters is up for grabs, isn't it?

Go build some artificial islands. There's some great real estate to sell.

There is no unclaimed land on international waters. Even if there is, a nation has the power to extend its territorial waters via decree, thereby claiming that land as their one.

Minvera tried to build an artifical island, but Tonga invaded the country and destroyed it. Artifical islands will not work, except if you got an armed force like Sealand. You should pay loyalty to the nation you are in, and settle for autonomy. Indepedence is overrated.

That's why I'm in favor of the giant Pykrete island idea.  Then we just hoist anchor and leave whatever water somebody claims.  It'd be a little expensive yes, but nowhere near as much as actually buying land outright from a government.

Or get a nuclear bomb and bury it inside the island. If some petty little Tonga like country claims it, sail away, wait for them to have a lot of people there, and detonate the bomb.

Seems far more useful to just buy a cruise ship. Or just, you know, a regular boat. Have that boat be the government. Just don't break the law.

What about underground? How far underground have nations claimed?  We could just dig underneath national borders.  :P
