Travel Interface
« on: November 02, 2002, 11:05:00 pm »

I'm still working on the travel interface.  The world and regional travel interfaces from before are going to be tossed out.  There's will now be one 3D travel map that represents your character hiking through the wilderness (it will also double for the army battle map when the time comes).  There will also be larger regional maps that you can look at (these are the maps that we talked about distorting, etc., a while ago), but you won't be able to travel on them directly.

Later on, when the civilizations permit, you'll be able to organize larger expeditions over longer distances.

Anyway, the travel interface should be done soon, modulo math research, piano practice, and writing curses games.  I got an electric guitar yesterday as well.  He he he...

Will you be able to get creatures of the same race to follow you around with the travel interface? Since it is rather annoying to have to walk for an hour (real life time) just to invade an enemy village...

And then just get [insert painful word here] to pieces!

Later...  it'll be hard to find same race creatures, at least until the Quaint Thorpe release.  There won't be any enemy villages until then either.

For the next three releases, the game will be about surviving in the wilderness.  This will allow me to establish how that will work independent of any interference from the towns.  For the clothing release, you'll still be lost in the wilderness, but you'll be able to skin animals and wear their skins to keep yourself warm and all that.  I think the Thorpe release is after that.  Magic is before clothing though.
