Obisidian problems and Magma

I was creating obsidian on my new fortress by flushing a magma pool with water and then mining out the newly created obsidian. The obsidian appears on my stocks screen (I have around 4000) but my dwarves can't use any of it to create items, nor can they use to build structures. As well, when I mine it out from around the magma shaft it cannot be used. I've saved, exited, restarted, etc. but nothing works so I assume it's a bug.

Z opens Fortress Status Screen.
Scroll over to Stone tab.
Enable Obsidian for use.

Also, make sure your dwarfs can reach the Obsidian (it's not at the bottom of a magma pool right?)

It's all in a pile next to my shops. But that totally helped, I didn't even know that was possible. :-X

edit: meaning enabling it on the stone tab.
