Go into the init file and turn music and sound off -- I forgot to post the dll file that you need.  You should be able to play without music and sound (hopefully -- if not, I'll have that dll file up in about 6 hours when I get home from school today).

You might be able to get the dll from www.fmod.org  in the mean time.

Note also that you can give yourself any title that you want -- just go into your member profile and fill out the title entry.  "Bay Watcher" is a separate category that just refers to the number of posts you've made.

Even with music/sound deactivated, it seems to request use of the mysterious dll mentioned by spelguru.

Dammit.  It's always something.  For people with fast connections, you can download the Programmer's API from FMOD.  The dll is in there.

Otherwise, I'll have it up in 3 hours now.  I just have to do one more section of teaching and travel home.  The dll itself is only ~100KB if I remember, or something manageable anyway.

I can't reload any old games or save a game to a universe with a life already in it.

also, all biege creatures turn white when the game starts.

THE DLL IS NOW UP.

Is it on load that the things turn white?  or is that your individual variation?  You won't always have the color shown in the character creation screen.  I'm not sure how to fix the scissoring thing, or if it is possible.

I can't load anything! "program has performed illigal function"

same crash message if I try to save a second life in the same universe. - it worked with another universe but It only showed one of the lives saved there.

also crashes in my first universe if you start a new life with one already saved, but works in another universe.  But if you die and quit in a universe with another life saved- it kills the rest "Armok has watched three lives" instead of one.

also when I stole a sword off a dead kobold it made a new sword in my hand and left one with the kobold.

I don't know what's going on -- apparently things work just fine until my last recompile when I put it up, and now everything is broken again, even though I changed nothing.  This is annoying...  I've taken down the download.

It's probably going to take a while to fix these problems.  Saving and loading suck.

A fix for some of the bugs is up: HERE.

Some of the problems you mentioned happen just because you can only have one life at a time:  only one saved game per universe.  If you start a new game in that universe, the old character is killed off.

I'm still getting that other problem -- if you save a game, then start a new game in that universe (which erases the old one), it'll crash if you save the new game.  I'm trying to fix that now.  For now, just finish all of your games -- don't overwrite them by starting new ones.

Of course, when I try to fix this problem, the game starts working fine, even when compiled in Release mode.  I currently have no clue how to solve this one.  I need the problem to start happening again.

[later] I just can't tell if it is there or not.  I haven't changed a thing and everything seems to work.  Let me know if you guys have any trouble with the version that's posted (0.03.40b).  For me to fix bugs that happen on Your computer, I need to know about them.  As of now, save/load works fine here.
