Be aware that it has a difficulty curve that makes DF look like L4D if you didn't play the prequels. I'm still trying to figure out how to get past the bit where i get to use a tank for the first time. Double AT guns, 2-3 armored cars and atleast 10 germans, against my 8 russian fratboys armed with peashooters and a cardboard vehicle. Oh, and the germans can either stealth or teleport as they appear right infront of me on open terrain and then massacre my entire squad before they can fire a single bullet and before i can click on him(coming from an ex-semi-proffesional starcraft player).

Prepare to loose alot and look at the loading screen even more. I have nothing agaist hard games but it does get on my nerves when i'm not given a chance to learn at all and the 90 seconds wait before every attempt is plain retarded.

The infantry advance on you using cover and lie in wait.  They cannot teleport, and if it seems like they are, it's because you aren't paying attention.  This game is nothing like starcraft and being good at starcraft would likely just make you worse at this game because it'll make you act based on that game's abstraction based rules rather than this game's much more realistic ones.

They appeared right infront of me on an open road with no cover arround at all. Unless you are saying that Wehrmacht uniforms are supposed to perfectly blend in with asphalt as long as the owner is not firing a gun, i stand by my observation that i'm fighting facist Warp Spiders.

No, it's weird that way sometimes. The LOS calcualtions are either laggy or are obscured by, well, obscure things. I had a soldier not notice a HALFTRACK DRIVING RIGHT BY HIS BUSH when he was sitting in lookout. The halftrack gunner didn't see him either, so I could alleviate the problem with a grenade, but still.

Btw, I'm replaying the first game of the series now. I just LOVE the first mission of the russian campaign. The things you can try to do... I'm now conducting a contingency plan that includes swimming across the lake and hijacking a few items of german hardware. (the soldiers are clearly badass in this game - not only can they drive anything drivable, hurl grenades with pinpoint accuracy, defuse antitank mines in seconds and single-handedly repair broken tank turrets - this one soldier of mine was swimming while holding his anti-tank rifle ABOVE HIS HEAD WITH ONE HAND. Badass.)

Er, no.  Unless your game has some strange glitch I've never heard of you're either lying, or hallucinating.  I'm sorry but that's just a matter of fact.  I know that that's never happened to me, and so far it hasn't happened to anyone else.

Where can I buy this game? I asked a couple of other people (AKA, my homies) and they say that you can currently only buy it from D2D and in Russia.

And I don't like D2D.

Hm, what's your problem with the D2D method? I love it to be honest.

1. Wanted "World at War"
2. Bought "World at War"
3. Lost "World at War"
4. Tried to re-download "World at War"
5. Realized I had bought the game without a user name and account.
6. Headbanged keyboard for six hours straight.

There should be some sort of protection against this sort of thing.

Ouch... :o
Why don't you copy the downloaded games [what you bought using the D2D method] to DVDs? I always do that.

Well, I didn't have a DVD burner at the time, though I do have one now.
I guess I could try it....

By the way, I still have the bruises from the headbanging session. Wanna see 'em!?
EDIT: Wait... I can't even find the game there.... mind sending me a link?

There's a STALKER mod in development. I can't wait.
