Also, what is the problem with 1C?

They have a bad habit of publishing bad games with horrible performace.

Uh, they've also released decent games...basically they are quite "universal" in this aspect.  :D

So i've "played" it for a bit and came to the following conclusions:

-Russia shouldn't be radiant green during november.
-It shouldn't be possible to loose the tutorial repeatedly due to a lucky shot by the enemy before you get control over your units.
-Sight lines mean nothing, the halftrack is telepathic.
-A tank with an instagibbing machinegun is not a suitable opponent for the first part of the tutorial.
-I should not have to waste more then half an hour to figure out how to get past my first tutorial opponent only to be mowed down by apparently unavoidable machineguns 10 seconds later.

In short: Tutorial sucks, does not encourage me to play rest of game.

Overall, 1C maintains status qou as only publishing good ideas with bad execution.

Ah well, only 7 days till Empire: Total War.

Oh boy, Empire! ... I can't wait to pay ten dollars extra to get the rest of the units they left out to sell separately.

They had to think up SOMETHING for steam users who want a collectors edition. It's not like they made naval combat exclusive. Or just wait for them to be modded in by the community within hours(minutes?)

You might want to speed up that cutscene and press "Continue" before it does so, then. Never happened to me, though. Also, your initial 2 units automatically take cover behind a nearby destroyed vehicle, so I've no idea how that happened to you.

-Sight lines mean nothing, the halftrack is telepathic.
Lies. Armour is blind outside the front and wherever the turret is pointing as long as the commander doesn't open the hatch and look. I just replayed it to double-check, it really won't notice if you flank it properly.

-A tank with an instagibbing machinegun is not a suitable opponent for the first part of the tutorial.
Did you run right at it or something? It shouldn't even be able to notice you if you run along the left and throw an AT nade at its right side.

-I should not have to waste more then half an hour to figure out how to get past my first tutorial opponent only to be mowed down by apparently unavoidable machineguns 10 seconds later.
You might want to try flanking. Red Army charges don't work with 8 people. And "apparently unavoidable"? There's a gigantic hole in its right flank, there's no one guarding it and you can chuck a grenade at them from behind a house without even being noticed.

In short: Tutorial sucks, does not encourage me to play rest of game.
Perhaps for the better. It only gets harder. I suggest trying Faces of War. It's considerably easier (you control only a squad of infantry and they have pretty high health compared to everyone else) while using more or less the same engine.

Overall, 1C maintains status qou as only publishing good ideas with bad execution.
I fondly think of them as publishers of games which don't hold your hand.

I liked SHoWWII more than Faces of War. The latter feels a lot more like a DoW-like squad combat thing, and much more arcade. The series as a whole is pretty arcade too, but I really like stuff like running headlong into enemy lines and picking off SMGers with MG headshots. The whole vehicle combat thing is absolutely brilliant, plus the destructable terrain and environment. And continuous exploiting of the game mechanics too, I remember a mission in the original where you were probably intended to blow up an enemy halftrack, run to some allies under fire and rescue them in a heroic firefight. The way I did it - dismantle a machinegun from a destroyed tank, wait in the bushes for the halftrack, pick off the gunner with the MG, wait till the driver pops up to kill you, kill him too, get the halftrack, drive through the front wall of the whatever place the allies are pinned down in, have them board, drive out through the other wall, sink the halftrack in the swamp, lose one ally to chasing infantry while you swim across, mission complete. ;D

Be aware that it has a difficulty curve that makes DF look like L4D if you didn't play the prequels. I'm still trying to figure out how to get past the bit where i get to use a tank for the first time. Double AT guns, 2-3 armored cars and atleast 10 germans, against my 8 russian fratboys armed with peashooters and a cardboard vehicle. Oh, and the germans can either stealth or teleport as they appear right infront of me on open terrain and then massacre my entire squad before they can fire a single bullet and before i can click on him(coming from an ex-semi-proffesional starcraft player).

Prepare to loose alot and look at the loading screen even more. I have nothing agaist hard games but it does get on my nerves when i'm not given a chance to learn at all and the 90 seconds wait before every attempt is plain retarded.
