Publisher's site: http://www.1cpublishing.eu/game/men-of-war/overview
English demo has been released!: http://www.worthdownloading.com/download.php?gid=3406&id=17895

Men of War is the follow up of the highly successful Soldiers: Heroes of World War II, developed by Best Way . The unique gameplay and design made the predecessor standing out from the RTS genre and found very soon a large fanbase, which is still active due to the impressive mod support.
Men of War starts were Soldiers ended, it delivers improved physics which allows you to destroy whole maps on a level of detail you never saw before, the newly developed armor penetration physics calculate the impact angle of every single projectile in accordance to the historic armor value of each vehicle. Every tank has the sound of its original, dropping you in a fully cinematic and authentic sound experience, which hardly can be described. As this wouldn’t be enough, you will enjoy a really useful and unique feature: Direct control! Take over the control of every single soldier you have, or drive tanks and other vehicles, set up ambushes with antitank guns and blow your enemies up with precise and deadly aimed shots at their weak spots!

Features:
Fully destructable environment. Get your men into cover of newly formed tank shell craters!
Very authentic sound experience with historical accuracy!
Unseen physics and armor penetration system.
Each mission and battle plays out differently based on your tactical choices!
Unseen battle scenarios to keep the WW2 setting fresh.
Over 100 highly accurate tanks and vehicles ready to be under your command!
Realistic fog of war
Smart AI is searching for your men covered in bushes and calls for reinforcements, including a morale system.
Excellent modding support and official SDK (Mapeditor, 3dsMax Plugins)!
6 different playable nations!
Direct Control! Want it done right? Do it yourself!

Multiplayer:Up to 16 players via LAN or Network
Ingame browser including ranked statistics
A good bunch of well tested and intense gamemodes
Cooperative gamemode allows you to play through the campaigns with your friends!
NAT support, allows you to host games through routers
5 multiplayer nations
Many varying multiplayer maps
Balanced settings, the smarter wins not the faster one.

Another 1C game. I'm going to need some very positive reports on this before i waste my bandwith on the demo. So far i've seen nothing but crap from them.

They didn't make it. They just published it. But yes. I will need some glowing reviews before I even consider pirating it.

Yep. I'm done with WW2 games.

I'd like people to be more original, we don't need to relive that war over and over.

Forced Linear storyline?

Doesn't really matter since my processor is probably too shitty anyways.

Hm.  Sounds like a less-good version of Close Combat.  And I really hate 'direct control', sniper = win in games like that.

What's the fog of war like?  Can you make your guys crawl through long grass, and not be seen, in a place where they would be seen if they were running?

This series is completely different from most.  It's more like a dumbed down Jagged Alliance or Commandos, but with tons of highly detailed vehicles.  Every soldier has an inventory with limited ammo, and every vehicle has really detailed damage modeling, and requires a crew.  You can damage the individual treads, which causes them to go out of control if they're moving, you can damage the gun or the turret, or the engine, or whatever...  With vehicles that have exposed crew you can kill the crew with MG fire.  If you manage to get the crew of a tank to evacuate you can use it against the enemy.  If there's something blocking your path you can just blow it up.

I've tried out the demo. Definitely one of the best, IF not the best ww2 RTS what I've ever seen.
Also, what is the problem with 1C? They are publishing games. They've published Fantasy Wars also, and that was an awesome Fantasy General clone.

Looks like it might maybe kinda rock. Reminds me of Company of Heroes, but with more detail, and probably more units on screen. But I agree, I'm tired of WW2 being replayed and replayed over and over again. We need some fiction up in this haus.

It's time we move onto the Korean War. You still get the gung-ho attidue inherent in WWII games, instead now players get to kill Chinese and Koreans instead of Germans. Oh yeah, and the players get to lose too. :)

I really wish there was a realistic war game that would simulate counter-insurgency. Since America has declared war against a military tactic, it would seem nice to see how insurgenices was suppressed (for a little while at least), like the Mai Mai and the Commies in the Phillipines.

Counter insurgency would make a horrible war game.  Killing the enemies is counter productive!  You can be under attack for weeks without being able to shoot back!  And military success has a good chance of having no impact due to the failures of civilian commanders beyond your control!  The gamer mind can't understand.

I don't know about Men of War, but Soldiers let you play as the Germans already.  I believe you played the world's most famous tank ace, though his name escapes me at the moment.
