You're not bad Colin. Just that when we start playing seriously, you need to start playing seriously too.  :P

Anyway, that mod was hilarious. I've never controlled 5 pieces of artillery at the same time before. Your bloody mobile artillery kept drawing all the fire. Hahaha! Nor have I seen a tiger survive multiple hits from a rocket launcher before. Good times! Too bad we can't save replays in this game or we could record the videos of us playing.

I can't get the multiplayer to work.  When I log in to my gamespy account everything works fine until I get to the server browser.  Then this message immediately pops up saying that I failed to join chat and it sends me back to the main menu. ???

I dunno what to say. You're using the Steam version right? Check if there's a mow_mp.exe from which you can open the game. If not, the likely causes are either a failed install or firewall issues.

Yeah, I got it from steam.  I tried the mow_mp.exe file but the only difference is that it freezes for about half a minute or more whenever it tries to load something.  I still get the Chat connection failed message and still get booted back to the main menu, even though I can actually see the server list in the background.

contact them, or gamespy. It might be past problems with the account thats doing it and all. Or, just ask steam people... oooorrrrr check if its the firewall.

Oh, and heres the mod we're talking about: http://www.moddb.com/mods/commanders-of-war-ii/downloads

It makes big battles happen... alot. Imagine quite litterally an entire battalion fighting over 1 flag. It happens and is nasty... But so much fun to watch.

Oh, and umi i can record matches, i got a full version of fraps to play around with.

Edit: Fixed link :(

Basically download the file (its like 90mb) open the read-me file and it shoudl tell you there

And then to install the patch, download it > open it up, extract the innards to the commanders of war ii folder

Ok, this game is actually making me want to destroy my keyboard.  All these stupid defense missions where you get next to nil to defend against a massive endless swarm of enemies that just keep coming and coming to the point where the corpses and destroyed vehicles start fading from existence.... Whoever thought this was a good idea should be beaten to death as painfully as possible.

I don't think I can get past the second german mission.  It's like, here's 20 seconds to set up all your defences, not that they're much use anyway aside from the Flak 18s which you don't even get to start with and they are placed in such a way as to make them nearly useless.  Also, here're a bunch of tanks, but they're all in a column formation so good luck moving them somewhere useful before the enemy comes.  Also, the enemy are better shots than your soldiers, and they have unlimited reinforcements.

*laughs at the little girl*

Just joking. In defense missions, I find it's always best to abandon your first front line ASAP as it usually sucks. Retreat to a good defensible position where you feel comfortable and just camp out there. Tanks aren't very useful for defense. Concentrate more on gun emplacements and infantry.

Also, the AI doesn't cheat in any way other than the reinforcements. It sees the same thing as you do and has the same stats as you do. This game is unbelievably hard, so if you can't handle it, well... don't feel too bad.

P.s: That second german mission starts out with them sending out crappy tanks at you that die to virtually anything save a pistol. Don't panic too much as you can hold out without reinforcements even. You haven't had to fight the kingtigers or other super heavy tanks yet.  :P

Yes I have.  But I had a T34!  In that mission the guns they give you can't even pierce the armor on a Matilda!  I finally managed to get some decent guns up and then they suddenly tell me to retreat and transfer me to a new map where all my stuff is gone.  it's not the difficulty that's pissing me off.  I finished Soldiers.  It's the abject stupidity of the level design.  I don't want to play a fucking tower defense game.
