So should I not bother recruiting those types with persuasion at all, or at least only use them as sleepers?

The reason I ask is that it would be nice to recruit, say, Agents, without having to brainwash the hell out of them.

Agents must be seduced or obtained by sleepers.  When you obtain recruits via sleepers, you have no choice in what you get.

It really depends what you want from the recruit.  High wisdom, low heart people don't make good long-term members, but you can always throw them into suicide squads, where you really don't care if they live or die.  Eventually, the survivors (if any) will either have higher heart than wisdom, or at least a nice buffer of juice before heart and wisdom are affected.

Also, I usually will recruit anyone who brings an AK with them.

I believe it is possible to recruit agents with a combination of an uber recruiter and guitars.  I know it is possible to recruit CSS vigilantes.

Without using any special tricks at all, I have four sleepers:
Janitor in police dept. (my first sleeper)
Lawyer in courthouse
Prison Guard in prison
Policeman in police dept.

Which ain't bad. I've managed to be ABLE to recruit about twice that amount of police/guards, but I didn't have a need for them at the time. So I assume I'll be able to recruit agents at some point.


Right now, the part of the game I'm finding annoying is pumping everyone's Juice. I'd love to be able to get some writers/computer guys and have them start working and doing their thing, but I'm kind of stuck because I feel the need to grind them for Juice first.

Hacking is a fairly low risk activity that gives up to 50 juice. Once you get a small army going, you can set everyone to hacking and get new guys up to 50 in a few days.

Go into a crack house with a full squad and spray paint 20 times.  *Bam* 6 liberals just gained 20 juice each.  Do this 10 times and you have a squad of powerful liberals.

I never noticed that hacking gave juice, although I'm not sure it would if they don't know what the hell they're doing (you know, like that "Your hackers don't even know where to begin) message. Interesting.

And I guess I AM overstating the problem. It's not like you really need your writers and hackers past 50 juice right away anyhow.


I bought a generator for the warehouse I'm staying at, although I have no frigging clue what it does. Presumably nothing at all, which is sad because $3000 is a LOT early game.

Right now I'm focusing on getting my squads organized and getting sleepers and cashflow before I start going out and committing heinous crimes (I haven't been in the papers yet, although I am now publishing my own). I'm going to get a small group of Liberal Guardian writers to influence things while I try to get a source of cash.

What's good for relatively-safe funds, anyway? Credit card fraud doesn't seem too bad, but might be kind of dangerous... would having a full squad of decent artists churn out portraits be feasible enough? Hell, I'll probably do both anyway.

Sticking with legal fundraising [like asking for donations] (as well as semi-legal fundraising activites such as selling brownies) is good, altough people who are criminals will be arrested if they are caught. Personally, I just conduct a few "donation runs" to get enough money to survive, and then live off that for a while until I need more money again.

Selling T-shirts (with garment making skill), portraits (with art skill), busking (with music skill and guitars equipped), and asking for donations (with persuasion skill and the LCS well-liked) are good for safe funds. Just don't use people who are wanted for crimes and you'll be fine. Selling brownies (persuasion), prostitution (seduction), and credit card fraud (computers) are all more lucrative, but involve committing crimes. Credit card fraud is relatively safe among these because the Liberal stays in the safehouse, and is less likely to incur a SWAT raid than hacking.

If you're good at recruiting, you can also start to recruit some middle to upper class people, but ask them for money instead of asking them to join the LCS. There's no risk to this, but it takes a relatively skilled character, and it's substantially more "hands-on" in terms of the amount of time and effort you have to put into it.

Edit: Buying a generator will protect you in case they cut the power to your safehouse during a raid. If that happens, you won't be able to access the map of your safehouse, and any security cameras won't work. Trying to escape without a map or the locations of any of the enemies sucks. I don't think they cut the power during police raids, but the army might, and intelligence agents definitely do.

Sounds like you will need to add in more uses for Money... because so far... having a massive LCS concentrating on donations is rather effective.

I did notice that landlords are pretty easy to butter up and can give upwards of 1000 clams when asked for a donation, and socialites aren't bad either, with the additional bonus that sometimes a socialite is actually a thief.

I just tried hacking. One of my recruits hacked a site (yes, I was hacking and not just harrassing websites ) and left LCS slogans on it, but didn't gain any juice at all.

Most types of hacking only raise your juice as high as 50.  You can make it to 100 by hacking military servers however.  Skilled enough hackers will pull those off.

No, hacking tops out at 50 last time I checked. Normal hacking gives 5 and I think the CIA one gives 20. If you have one programmer in the group thats hacking, everyone gains skill and gains juice. Just gotta make sure you have one person who knows what they are doing first. Its good if you just want to get one level of leadership taught to them and a recruit for a total of 3 recruits plus seduced targets.

Theres a question. Will sleeper prostitutes be able to seduce others into becoming sleepers? Maybe based on their charisma and seduction skill would determine how "good" the sleeper is. For instance, a bad prostitute would only be able to get janitors but one that is pushing a combined score of 25 would be able to nab CEOs.
