WHAT THE HELL IS THIS GAME?
- This is Dwarf Fortress, A brilliant game which is still in it's Alpha stage.

who was it made by?
- Tarn Adams

why?
- Hobby I guess.

Why is it so good?
- Complication(s ^^), the possibility to have your own inmagination run freely.
  Also, it lures you, back to it, again and again, if you dont like it now, in       half a year you will find eachother again and still build a lovestory (with lots of magma =D)

why am i feeling so excited?
- It is normal for someone to have a form of excitement for the unknown, this is mostly to protect against a new addiction.

is it really all that good?
- To me, it absolutely is.

what do you do in it?
- Nothing special, burn down sieges, catapult goblins, have a lot of fun ^^http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Fun

is there any must have mod i should download with the client?
- Not to begin with, the vanilla version as we call the mod-less version in the forums, is ideal to start off with, later, for additional challenges you can do the modding.

is it addictive?
- Hehe... If I say no, do we have another addict? ^^

is it complicated?
- That depends, it can be as complicated as you wish it to be (mods, megaprojects, etc.) Just make sure that the first few games you'll keep dwarffortresswiki.net close to you, as it will prove a valuable source of information.

A roguelike game is a game where death is truly the end of your character, so if you save and reload, then die, you will not be able to load your save.
This is off course, save-scumming being left out (you then copy your game, so that you have a backup).


I really hope this gives you some usefull information, I started with this game one time, dropping it next to me and moving on, only to find it back after a few weeks and getting addicted as hell.
So far I have had 2 break periods from this game, and I came back twice. Every lost fort is extra knowledge for the next, HAVE FUN!

Nah, fishing for Cod alone is not enough, there should be a fishing game just as complex as toady's masterpiece!
