Warhammer 40k
« on: February 16, 2009, 10:47:25 am »

So, who plays 40k in here? And what faction?

I play as Space Marines and Orks.
With Space Marines, I have nearly 1900 points of them. I'm painting them as Crimson Fists.
Really want a Land Raider Crusader. Probably the best of them against hordes.

With Orks, I have nearly 1700 points. Im painting them as Goffs.

I still like painting and modeling, but I don't play the actual game anymore.

Interested in playing the tabletop game, but P & P games are hard to find over here. Don't think I've ever seen 'em sold. I would, however, ALWAYS choose to play as either Tyranid or Necrons.

The Imperial Guard looks awesome though.

Cool.

What? You expected me to freak out?

Okay then.

Got the PC games of course (The good ones, not the suckish ones, like Soulstorm.. I'm still trying to get Space Hulk though. That one ruled. And maybe some others. I hear theres a Squad Command, and a Space Marine game coming out. Maybe not soon. But I can wait.)

And I'm working on, who else, the Black Templars. Very little progress in that department. No money, and not so much time to make it.

I think I like the Lore more then I like the Table Top game anyway. I'm just to damn lazy to bother with it for the most part. But I'll give it a go. When I got the cash to spare.

While I appreciate the fine design of the PC game, I can't play it.  It's an RTS specifically designed to destroy turtling, and I just don't roll that way.

I played the table game years ago with another guy's army I borrowed, Thousand Suns or something.  I've since fallen in love with the setting again, and if I had any money I'd put together a little army.  I know there's a group in my area from the Penny Arcade forum, so at least I wouldn't be stuck playing against myself.

I loved the old rules for BFG with the Nova cannon, basically a gigantic plasma bomb fired at 2/3rd's SoL.

Went something like this:
"Guns, fire the nova cannon Noaw!"
"Sir, that'd mean firing the whole fleets!"
"I know, I know, we can waste the ammo against them!"
"No sir, theres one of our cruisers BEHIND US!"
"Shi-"
BOOOOM!
