Heh, you actually managed to win? That's very impressive.
I don't know how it is for an Indian casino, but if it were in Vegas I would be tempted to say that the attractive and social blonde (she was blonde, wasn't she?) could have been a plant by the casino to keep you playing.
I still don't understand why they decided to stop using coins for the slot machines... That's a major psychological boost when you win and get a horde of small change spewing out at you. Sure, it may only be $20, but it looks and sounds like you hit the jackpot, which will make you feel damn good about going to that casino (or even that machine, depending on your personality and knowledge of statistics).
I still think it was damn clever to specially construct the coin payout slot so that the coins make as much noise as possible and sound like a lot more than they really are. A recording just isn't the same...
But yeah, BlackJack is a good choice for just going out and having a bit of fun. It's social, and the stakes generally aren't too high to empty out your pockets as quickly as the other stuff (unless you decide to play it high, of course. In which case, you can be assured of more drinks and perhaps some friendly young dame coming and sitting next to you). You won't win tons of money, but it's generally not too hard to keep within a reasonable range of your starting cash, even without years of experience.
Poker is pretty much the same thing, except it's a little more competitive and you have to know what you're doing a little bit more. And the payouts are determined in part by the other players, so make what you will of that.
Plus, if an expert in BlackJack comes to your table, you won't lose any more money than you normally would. If an expert in Poker comes to your table, you may find yourself drying out faster than you can blink.
Yes, casinos are fun. They are an entertainment industry. Treat them as such, and you'll be fine. Because just like any other entertainment industry, you need to pay for the services provided.
