Your Adventurer has been Afflicted with Necrosis
« on: February 16, 2009, 12:44:07 am »

You fall to the ground, unable to get up.  Your triumphant battle spoiled by this evil twist of events.  Your foes rotten bones and undead skull gaze up watching your fate.  You awake sometime later, with new and terrifying abilities and or afflictions.

What would you wish these to be?

I thought Necrosis is just the dying of tissue in a surrounded area or something. Basically a type of cellular damage.

Yeah, if you want a necromantic disease you need a different word for it.

Hmm.  I think Toady had mentioned the possibility of certain types of undeath leaving the soul intact.

I suppose you could turn into a ghost and buzz around haunting people.  (Retire as a Poltergeist)

EDIT: Sniped. By three posts.

Yes. That's right.

Instant zombification instead of death could be interesting. If you get killed in an appropriately evil area, let the shambling begin.

Evil areas are going to be removed.

Though I guess Curses could be linked to lands in a similar ways Spheres are.

This could be fun when we get targeted strikes.. You gotta amputate your own, infected leg to survive.

That's what he meant by "appropriately evil" area, I think.

They're not going to be "removed," per se, just become more interesting and have more varying features.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Typical abilities of those afflicted with necrosis include turning black and smelling badly. ;)

Jokes aside I assume the OP meant a disease that turns you into a living dead. I was never very partial to the living dead. Not having a cardiovascular system, not being able to regenerate etc. don't seem like very... attractive properties to me. :)
