« on: February 15, 2009, 11:12:07 pm »

And by that, I mean I get to make the mountains, etc.
If so, where?

There are none.
And:
If so, where?
You don't need to do that. people here are sort of trigger-happy when it comes to posting links.

Well, I just figured, because there are those swanky pregenerated maps.
Ah well
Thanks for answering, though

There is a world editor, but you can't edit the map you see if fortress mode. No custom designing which way the river flows, or where that underground lake is located, sorry.

So what you are saying, is that with some sort of tool, you can make what the map looks like.
I have found this, I believe.
The 'Map Painter'
But I cant seem to make rivers.
And all the maps get rejected
Ack!

You're maps are being rejected because you haven't made enough differing biomes, etc. World gen is rather complex ^^

Best thing to do if you want to paint your own worlds (which is what you are doing) is to 'remove' the rejection criteria from the world gen profile you are using.

But what about making rivers?
EDIT: And how do I remove this criteria, because this wiki page only tells me how to see WHY they were rejected

99% sure rivers are created by the generator and not you.

Edit: And if you still can't figure it out from the above world tokens link, you get rid of the 'criteria' by nullifying any kind of min/max requirements.

But what about making rivers?
Rivers are a separate part of world generation, takes place after the initial map is made.
In other words...
You don't.

There IS a kind of editor.

It uses black and white relief maps to create the world... I think I have a link to it in my community mods and utils post

Its called Dwarf Height Map

Why is the stuff about the 3D world gen in the old wiki?

THIS is the latest and correct wiki, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure those are both the same wiki, those are just two different domain names.

I think it's a vastly amusing thought that elephants are so afraid of heights that when Dwarves invented the Z-axis, they couldn't bear to face dwarves in combat anymore.
