Heavy armor games
« on: February 15, 2009, 03:17:31 am »

I really like tanks. Can anyone suggest good games that feature tem? I have seek and destroy, but not much else.
If anyone can enlighten me onn the application of armor in gaming, Bay 12 can!

*scratches head*

This one isn't my speciality. A personal favorite, but probably not what you had in mind, is Metal Saga for the PS2. It's a turn-based RPG featuring tanks as the primary means of combat, however. Post-apocalyptic and (occasionally) western settings. Fun, but not what you had in mind I'm sure.

There was "Battle Tanx" on the N64, I believe. A fun game, but probably not going into the detail you want.

Hmm...

There was an old M1 Abrams simulator for the Genesis, and PC I think.

I know plenty of tank-themed games if you're not interested in a detailed simulation.

Thanks for the good memorys aqizzar.

I am not sure that what kind of game are you looking for, but Men of War will be pretty awesome. [Probably it will be the best ww2 based RTS, and it's gonna be released soon..]
You can find lot of in-game videos on youtube about the game.  :)

Well, in Operation Flashpoint, using a tank is quite realistic (there's pilot, commander and gunner seat, etc)

Battlefield series. But only if you have nothing against being a magnet for bomber planes.

If you've got half life 2 try empires mod, it's really awesome, it's got various tanks fun tank to tank combat and troop combat. It also has stuff like artillery which is awesome, it was my favorite tank of them all. It's especially fun when you go as a grenadier, take the ability that tells you where your shots land and lay land mines to blow up stuff trying to sneak up on you.

There were the metal max series back on the snes.

Seek and Destroy for PS2. That one has fairly poor graphics, bout early N64 level, but was great fun. About 100 various real world tanks in it, some fixed turret others rotatable.

Halo has that tank thingy, but can't honestly recommend it.

Battalion wars 1 and 2 have controllable tanks and infantry squads. Can definately recommend those.
