So in the future people are just retarded and they build their houses on top of deadly time bombs?

Idiocracy?

It's on another planet.  A dry, hostile one.  Eden colony (one of the factions) decided that they'd engineer a microorganism to extract traces of water out of the planet's crust.  They succeeded a little too well and created the organic little brother of the 'gray goo' scenario.  Not only does the Blight set off a bunch of tectonic activity, it also, uh...extracts water from organics, too...like habitat domes (the plastics that make them airtight).  And people.

Pretty much the whole campaign mode is "Yay!  Our colonies are finally self-sufficient and seem to be doing alright!  ...And now we need to flee across the planet while simultaneously building the infrastructure to rebuild our space program and build another colony ship to escape, before we all die horribly!"

I think one of the factions is actually trying to restore the planet.

No, and yes it's a great basebuilding game. Except usually you die in the first few minutes of fending off a wave of minotaurs.

stronghold beats all of you. you get to control the exact place of the wall and have tons of type of troops. build an army and stablize an economy at the same time.

you can even make maps. extremly detailed and the ones on youtube are amazing. stronghold 2 is the one with 3D graphics...but stonghold 1 has its charms.

Well, I must say Warzone if fun but suffers from poor mission organization. Just failed a 2 hour mission because there was a tiny base an eightieth the size of every other base hiding in a corner and it wasn't close to any other base. Couldn't get the 3 tanks I would have needed up there fast enough at the end to kill it and lost 2 hours of work.

I am really not an RTS person and I love Warzone 2100. It's a very, very, very good game.

And now it's free! GET IT.

Well, there is this one game...

It is also called Stronghold

It's AD&D based, but lightly, you create and manage all the aspects of a fantasy town, and the goal is to eventually become emperor, which can take a while.

During this, you can become an economic powerhouse, fight monsters and roaming beasts, and expand your little hamlet to a large city.

It's fun, I've spent a lot of time playing it.

The interface of that thing takes ages to get used to...  I could never figure out what I was looking at.

I never really did get around to really getting into that one.  Guess I just didn't give it enough time.
