Rather new to this, few Q's
« on: February 14, 2009, 10:54:54 am »

So, I started up an adventurer (second now, the other just died in a fire :)), and I was wondering if I could do the following few things:

- cut tree's to get wood?
- Light corpses/living critters
- Catch the small animals you always find when using K (can you find other things that way?)

thanks, I'll be posting more questions as they arise ;)

Alright here we go.

Adventure mode is still being worked on and won't be at full strength for quite some time. so you won't be able to do those until the Adventurer skills Arc.

Mind you... You can catch Small animals by picking them up! however that only includes two things
1) Animals in cages
and
B) Vermin... who are very small creatures... So mostly bugs and squirls.

1) Interacting with trees is not at all possible, you can't even burn them.  Yes, it is among the most commonly requested features, along with other expanded functionality in Adventure Mode.

2) You can't directly set fire to corpses, but you can light the ground on fire, drop a corpse on it, and wait for it to light up.  But you'd probably catch fire yourself first trying to get to it.

3) If you're standing in the same tile, you can pick up any kind of vermin creature like other objects.  Goring creatures by throwing bugs at them is a time honored heroic tactic.

I CAN burn trees, several oaks and other trees have seen the light of fire allready, this was the reason my previous adventurer died XD.

I'm getting rather hungry for that adventurer arc ^^

Not at all true.
You can, in fact, burn trees, by standing next to them and pressing (g)et.
Same way you burn everything else.

Granted, the fire takes a LONG time to spread in Adventure mode, and will not burn any trees that you don't specifically set fire to, but...

That was what I was referring to.  You can specifically set fire to individual trees, but the fire will almost never spread from them, and will never spread to other trees.

Only if there's no flammable material near them...

Grass, creatures (they heat up enough and explode violently into burning body parts if they have [SEVERONBREAKS] in their raws..  fun..  otherwise all of their body parts just "break" and they die in the heat uneventfully), corpses, body parts, cloth items, leather items I think...
Basically, anything you'd expect to catch on fire...

Tnx for the reply ^^

Next problem, i lost my sword in a zombie camel...
How can I retrieve it? (killing the thing is a bit hard now...)

EDIT: I might add to this that this does not work like a enemy-held weapon, but a weapon stuck in the enemy...

If you've still got a hold of it use the "I" menu (that's shift+i, btw). If not, wresle the thing, grab your sword and revert to "I".

And you have to grab it with a hand?

yup. actually any body part with [GRASP] will do, but unless you're running a mod, that's still just hands
