If you combined DF's damage system with a fancy graphics and physics FPS and then added slomo and crap, we wouldn't even need gameplay or plotline. We could just spend hours trying to shoot a bullet through someones heart and having it bounce it off a wall into their brain, or ramming someone against a wall with a car so hard they explode in gore and their limbs go flying everywhere.

JFK Reloaded, anyone?  it would let you do exactly that for hours on end. over and over.

Just imagine if Red Alert was under the control of Toady.

Just, wow.

A tank has actual body parts, right? So you could have a shell just mangle a tread instead of taking off a sliver of a health bar.

WOW!!
Red Orchestra called, they already implemented that idea.

Also, I heard the new version of Company of Heroes was to have something like this, but that's what they said the first time. Sure - RO is a FPS, but has the best tank damage system I know of.

Also, Faces of War and the Heroes of the World War II already implemented that, IIRC.

Yeah, Soldiers: Heroes of World War 2 has a more realistic damage system than RO, but RO does have a cooler armor system the way shells actually bounce off if they hit at the wrong angle.

Speaking of Soldiers, the multiplayer beta for the third game in the series Men of War is available to Fileplanet subscribers.  I wonder what kind of retarded DRM it's going to have though.
