Online Spaceship RPGs
« on: February 13, 2009, 04:51:46 pm »

Taikodom - Based in Brazil, thus server is laggy unless you live in SA, English translations are useless, free + microtransaction; 3D
Star Sonata - Level capped at 20 for free-to-play players; 2D
Starport: Galactic Empires - HEAVILY watered down version of Star Sonata (basically), free + microtransaction; 2D

I would have provided more information, but I haven't played any of them recently enough, and I'm not going to copy-and-paste from the homepage when I provide a link to the homepage.
Post games of this genre that you know of.

Then again, I consider Infinity to be overly ambitious, something that might easily spell it's downfall.

I've played Star Sonata on and off for a long time; I haven't gotten back into it recently but I always enjoyed my time there. The level cap is unfortunate, though. I shelled out some money for an actual subscription at one point but I lost interest after a bit so that was a good deal of wasted money there.

But anyway.

I'm thinking nobody really needs to mention EVE, and that's the only other spaceship RPG that comes to mind. Unless you count ACE Online, although that's less "spaceship RPG" and more "futuristic spacefighter RPG that plays like nearly every hack-and-slash loot gathering MMO out there but a bit more interesting because it's part (lackluster) flight sim".

A man once said to me, "If you want superpowers, all you have to do is take acid and you'll have any superpower you want." He then asked if I had just, at that moment, shaved half my face; I revealed that as being my superpower. Being suddenly and inexplicably half-shaven.
