Fey Cripple
« on: February 12, 2009, 09:10:17 am »

So I have this unconscious dwarf missing both of his legs and one hand, but otherwise unharmed. he got a fey mood, but he just lies there. I've already got cage traps build by his door if he goes insane, but I still have a few questions.

1: Will he EVER starve? he's been like this for over a season and hasn't gotten hungry yet.

2: Will he ever actually get up and go for the stuff he needs?

3: Would he survive in a cage?

4: Will he remain unconscious forever?

Are you sure, you have built his workshop?

1. Yes.
2. Considering that he lost both of his legs + one arm, I don't think so.
3. No.
4. It depends on his injuries. Does he has any internal organ/brain injuries for example?

Cage traps only spring on friendly units if they are unconscious. Cave-in smoke knocks everybody it touches out.

I'm sure you can put it together from there.

He's already unconscious.  A better question would be, "How in the world did he lose both legs and an arm, in his room?  While unconscious?"

he didn't. a huge set of four goblin ambushes charged through the front gate and, lacking an army, I equipped everyone with anything I had and told em to charge. he took the main beating, got carried to his room, and has been living like that for a while.

If he went insane (and if he could walk) could I trap him?

Yes.  Hostile dwarves (tantruming, insane, yadayada) are trappable.

Or, if they are asleep or unconscious

If he went unconscious again after walking onto the tile with the trap on it, yes. (Or if he's hostile)
Otherwise, no.

well, I'm going to build cage traps all over his room, and see if I can catch him for an... experiment. hmm... what showers gore more explosively? thirty kittens or a nutcase?

I've had wounded dwarves get fey moods and they definitely get up and do their thing. I had one with two red legs and a yellow arm get up and walk across the map about 8 times. Took ages, and I half expected him to go insane by the 3rd season, but he kept plugging away. If your guy were conscious, I'd expect him to crawl to the workshop.

Well, any chance of him not dying of 'phantom pains' from his missing appendages? or is it time to pull the lever on him?

A much easier way to cage a dwarf is to build a 1x1 room with a cage trap and lock him in there until he decides to sleep.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

So, dwarves that went berserk count as hostile, since the guard/military attacks them... makes me think of putting a cage trap into every workshop entrance...
