I've seen this too. I'm sure I can come up with the goblin snatcher. Maybe throw in a Lying Elf and a Covert Elf. Lying Elf can lie to the Child. Covert Elf can get past Sheriff. But I'm not sure if that gets the Elves more power or not.

Probably best to start a new thread for this, so we don't derail this game too much.

To solve the child problem, I suggest that you add in the Goblin Snatcher as a neutral figure. He wins if he snatches the child. If the child checks him, he is immediately snatched and both players disappear from the game. If the child is killed, the only non-lose condition for the goblin is to be alive when the game ends.

That should make the child less powerful, since he'll now have the risk of both the hammerer and the snatcher killing/snatching him if he checks them.
