I could go on how this every holiday is a capitalistic holiday despite any religious overtones there may have been in the past, but screw it.
Don't get me wrong: I love capitalism.

Singles awareness day, for me.

I have a hell of a hard time finding a girl who's anything like me culturally.  I mean, I'm only the millionth biggest nerd on the Internet, I don't speak Klingon or write Harry Potter / Wow fanfiction or anything.  It's just that the minute a girl starts talking about the characters on any VH1 "reality" show as though they're real people, I instantly lose all interest in her as a person.  If a girl told me that professional wrestling was real, I'd be more likely to respect her than if she watches "Double Shot of Love" or "Girls Next Door" or what the **** ever.

So, yeah, I'm gonna celebrate Valentine's Day by, probably, building a tower-cap farm or something.

I was actually thinking of this, and imagining the internet responding to every holiday in the same manor it responds to Christmas.
And me and Capitalism are also BFFs.

Valentine's Day is something you're agianst until you have someoen to celebrate it with. I don't mean that singles out there are bitter (Well, some probably are. I was.) but once you're in a relationship you start to think, "Shit, I'm going to look like a jackass if I don't do anything." Even if you're against V-Day there is a pressure to celebrate.

The first two years I was with my S/O I surprised her with a nice dinner. I took the day off from work but still left the apartment at the regular time, went to the grocery store and got some stuff to cook up. I don't recall what we've done for the past two years. Probably something similar.

She's allergic to chocolate, so I get the candy.  :)

"They're going to pull the dwarf out of the barrel."

Nice. I'm making a picnic indoors. She likes it, and it's not too difficult to do. Probably watch a movie afterwards.

And sorry about you single folk.

I'm in high school, but valentine's day seems to have gone a bit under the radar here, probably because it is preceded by a friday the 13th and followed by a long weekend.

Honestly, it's kind of weird.  It's like there's a round hole where something should be, but no one can find anything other than the square peg.

And now I realize this whole analogy sounds . . . odd.

I'm making cookies for all my friends. I've got some high standards in the intelligence department, but I'm not really all that worried about a person's face.

Exactly!  You should be completely indiscriminate in choosing a mate!  You can always divorce her and wonder why you wasted all that money on a wedding later! :P
