Hmm...not much can do that for you in vanilla DF. Your best bet is to try some mods or mod a few things yourself. If you replace [INTELLIGENT] with [CAN_CIV] [CAN_LEARN] in the goblins creature profile they should siege you continuously.

Or, you can add in more enemy civs. These can be goblin variants, or you can take a mod like Civilization Forge or Legendary Lands which adds in different foes to fight.

I know in my own mod I can get continuous waves of enemies form different civs.

Hehe, I'm pleased to see that this little discovery of mine has become common knowledge, even during my absense.

To further boost the number of invasions, remove the [BABYSNATCHER] tag, thus, every single goblin event will be a full blown siege. The first siege is usually quite small, maybe two squads at most, but they increase with size as time passes.

If you want sieges right away, change the [PROGESS_TRIGGER_blahblah] tokens to 1. By default they're at 2, which means it takes longer for stuff to happen. This means that the goblins will wait until you've had an immigration wave before attacking, which is enough time to get a few wrestlers up and running or to set up traps. If you put the goblin tokens to 1, they could attack in the very first year. Makes life interesting, and puts a huge urgency on getting some defenses up ASAP, even if its merely a locked door.

Also, try Orcs. They are like the non-speaking, progress trigger 1 goblins, but also larger and faster.

You mean the civ page that comes up when you're actually playing the game?  No, fortunately, it only shows civilizations that your dwarves have discovered.  The goblin civilization won't show up until you find the first goblin from that civ, which is nearly always a thief.

You can give it about three years, by which time you will have seen goblins if there are any to see.  Alternately, you can create a duplicate of your saved game (just copy the region folder), load the duplicate, abandon your fortress, then go to the reclaim screen, hit space to cancel the reclaim, and hit tab until you see the list of civilizations.  You should see "Goblins" with a dotted red line next to it in most cases.  If goblins aren't on the list, then they don't exist in your world and you need to start over if you want wars.

Man, if you want Goblin infested, you should see the fortress I am currently messing with.  I get !AMBUSHED! about 5 times a year.  It was annoying at first, what with 5-10 Goblins showing up out of nowhere, always funny when they find my cluster of fisher-dwarves.  Ah, the streams were an amazing red.

So yeah, now I just use cage traps and then throw them in a pit next to the baracks where I am training my Marksdwarves.  Turning a profit has never been easier!

Settling in a goblin infested area doesn't seem to increase the amount of goblins that show up. I've never seen any correlation between distance to a goblin dark fortress and how many or how early goblins show up.

Although if you want that sort of thing, settle on a map with 'Other features'. The boost to wealth that just having that on a map will send an ambush in the spring of the second year.

so it should look like this?:
Code: [Select]
[EVIL]
[CAN_CIV][CAN_LEARN][LIKES_FIGHTING]
[NO_FEAR]

also where is that [progress trigger] tag i cant seem to find it.....

Hi!

Well, if you don't mind starting anew via reclaim on a small fortress, you could try one of my recent fortresses. It had pop cap 5 and never went beyond population 10, but I got frustrated with the constant goblin ambushes of about 4 groups PER SEASON. The save has the still active fortress, so you could continue with that if you like or similar abandon and start something new nearby (hopefully, you get as many visitors as you want).

Where is the "[INTELLIGANT]" bit ;located?
I looked in the "Entity_default" list where all the other goblin modifiers are, but cant find it there.

Aspects of the Creature, such as INTELLIGENT, are in the creatures_standard.txt. The Civilizations details, like the Progress triggers, are in entity_default.txt.

a good question would be if all these things you guys told me are supposed to work in an already created map and fortress.... does it work?

No. You have to generate a new world.
