This is extremly common, but...

Because of Dwarf Fortress, I find rocks interesting.

Forgotten Beasts seem to be akin to Toady playing Russian Roulette with your fortress, as they can be anything from harmless giant worms made of mud to necrotic-gas spewing nigh-invunerable iron hydras of doom.

I've suddenly taken an interest in magma, mineralology and how to smelt ores.

It's Spore and space all over again...

YES. Dwarf Fortress actually helped me answer a question for Science Bowl.
Specifically, Galena is an ore of what metal?

Because of Dwarf Fortress, I am seriously on track to giving myself carpal tunnel, but my bedroom complex has never been more efficient!

Because of Dwarf Fortress, I have learned there is no problem that cannot be solved by a suitable application of magma.

Because of Dwarf Fortress, I long to subject the local tourists to a long magma bath.

Because of Dwarf Fortress, I now think the phrase 'like herding dwarves' is far more apt than 'like herding cats'. Doubly so, because all cats should immediately be marked for slaughter before they adopt someone and overwhelm the fort.

I want to see an option to neuter/spay animals in the game. >.> Let the migrants bring their pet cats! I'll render them all genderless!

Remember when you had to designate every tile of a construction individually?

Because of Dwarf Fortress, I now believe that the greatest threat to the continued survival of intelligent life is a tantrum spiral.

Because of Dwarf Fortress, I now judge cats partially on how well suited I believe they would be for making high boots.

Because of Dwarf Fortress, I now wonder what prepared dragonfly brains must taste like.

Because of Dwarf Fortress, I now know that any dish, no matter what goes into it, can be a masterful dish if you mice the ingredients well enough.

My dad had piece of rotten fat in his spine. He went to hospital and surgeon removed it, then sutured the wound. Because of Dwarf Fortress I find this hilarious. I am sick person.

The forgotten beast Namicamela has come.  It is a colossal fluffy wambler.  It has thick, soft fur and undulates adorably.  Beware its awwwwww, aren't you a fuzzy widdle guy.

No! No! I will not massacre my children. Instead, I'll make them corpulent on crappy mass-produced quarry bush biscuits and questionably grown mushroom alcohol, and then send them into the military when they turn 12...
