...my father (45+ year mechanical engineer vet)... my video-game-loving mother...
Can I be your brother?

You'd have to deal with a catsplosion.  (My dad really, really, likes cats.  Call him Urist McEngineer CatLover.  Srsly.  I'm waiting for him to demand raw adamantine.  He's like a pre-2010 cat-liking dorf...  he adopted an entire litter of kittens.)

As for my mom, well...  If you want a mom who can shred your high scores on every single game you introduce her to, go for it.  If I introduce her to a game and she likes it; she pwnz0rz me.

@ Nikov - I'm totally behind you with the whole modern-art-being-dreck thing.  Then again, what gets called art this year is likely to be forgotten the next.  The Sistine Chapel was done entirely on commission, AFAIK.  The best we can hope for is that in two hundred years, people remember LotR and Harry Potter instead of Twilight.

(I've always hated Picasso, to be honest.)

And that's a problem? NO ONE pwnz0rz me. The only person I know who's better at video games than me lives several states away. Of course, online games are another story...

It has a skeletal elephant attack.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

... my decision to become a civil engineering major has been strongly reinforced.

That said, I don't know if I should be a structural specialist. I don't think the world would appreciate my acquired taste for "architecture."

They will, all you'll have to do is prove physics wrong first.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Pirate > Ninja

Dwarf > Elf

Pirate Dwarf > Ninja Elf

YAY MATH.

This is false. It is obvious that ninjas, pirates and elves suck. So they have negative values. Dwarves are awesome, so they have a positive value. Therefore pirate * dwarf is negative and ninja * elf is positive. Far more horrible than it sounds but sadly it is true. In conclusion we can say that Dwarves should not be pirates and all elven ninjas are to be exterminated so that Dwarven awesomeness has proper contrast.

Pirate > Ninja

Dwarf > Elf

Pirate Dwarf > Ninja Elf

YAY MATH.

...Because of Dwarf Fortress, I learned that no one will bother attacking you if you live inside a glacier in the middle of nowhere because ice is considered worthless.
But what about ninja dwarves and pirate elves? Or dwarven ninjas and elven pirates?

Any ninjas are automatically awesome. But the only ones likely to earn that title are the kobolds.

I think "If I can just pick up some gravel or a live worm and throw it, I can probably sever a leg crush a skull"

Technically..., if you threw them hard enough....
